Best Route around NYC and DC from NH

Traveling to a KOA in Millersville Maryland outside of DC. What is the best route to use for a 30 foot motor home. Thinking we will use the Tappen Z Bridge and head down. Welcome all advise. Thank you in advance.

As snowbirds we travel from NW Connecticut to Florida twice each year. We generally go through the GW bridge and then down the NJ turnpike. But sometimes Google Maps directs us through the Tappan Zee bridge or over the Hudson at Newburgh on I84 which takes a bit longer but avoids backups on the GW.

But trust Google Maps when you go, they rarely (but sometimes do) steer us wrong.

SBSdps1951-

We prefer this:

- Mass Pike west to NY
- 87 south
- 287 to 202 to 31, then 295 at Ewing, NJ
- 295 to the Delaware Memorial Bridge
- 95 to Baltimore
- 695 (beltway) east (cross Francis Scott Key Bridge)
- 97 south to the KOA

or this:

- Mass Pike west to NY
- 87 south
- 287 to 202 to 31, then 295 at Ewing, NJ
- 295 to the Delaware Memorial Bridge
- 95 south
- 1 south at Christiana Mall (Delaware)
- 301 south
- 50 west (cross Chesapeake Bay Bridge)
- 97 north to KOA

We find 295 in NJ has less traffic than the turnpike.

The ride through rural Delaware and Maryland on the second route is very nice.

Our coach is the same length as yours, and we tow, so you should be able to navigate 202 and 31 in NJ, and the approach road to the KOA. We have stayed there twice.

Just kind of 2 things to remember. We almost made the mistake of getting bones the Merritt Prkway in Connecticut. Definitely NO RVs allowed. Also like the previous poster wrote, there’s no RVs allowed in the Baltimore Tunnels.
