Campgrounds near Madison, WI

Hi All,

We are looking for a campsite within a 1/2 hour of Madison, WI early June. We'd like full hookups and sites with trees if possible. Any suggestions on places you've stayed that you really like?

Beth

If you are not familiar with it you may want to take at look at Campground Reviews - Trusted Reviews of Campgrounds & RV Parks.

It is owned by the parent company of Winnie Owners and many members here leave 'real reviews' there.

Camping near Madison WI

Look up the WACO site, Wisconsin association of campground owners, they have the best info on the campgrounds in Wisconsin .
Great people!

WI has some nice state parks in that area. Check out the DNR's website. The Casino in Madison is smoke free and allows (encourages) free ONP. No HU. They even have a free shuttle bus that will shuttle you over to the smoke free casino. Might be a good place to land on day of arrival or departure.

We stayed at Lake Farm a few years back. It worked. We toured WI before our son did his Iron Man there at Madison - he finished, 2 time Iron Man. the camp was just fine, bathhouse looked nice, we used the RV. If I remember there was a weird reservation thing but made it work. They had bus shuttle to get back and forth to camp for the event, parked the car just in Madison, took the shuttle - great. Nice place to visit.

Got a smartphone? Get yourself the Allstays app. You can also access Allstays via the web. You can easily find campgrounds, get ratings, etc.

We use the Allstays Camp and RV app on the phone, tablet and laptop. I've noticed that a very large number of camps we visit are not showing up on even the laptop web site PRO thing now. Don't know what is going on or if camps have stopped subscribing or who is footing the advertising bill for the thing. It is still the best thing overall we have found, so not bashing it, just wondering what is going on. Initially I thought it was when they dropped support for Android but the tablet is Apple and DW has Apple iPhone X, same thing now. We do see a lot of "stutter" on the tablet now as well.
