Who doesn't like a clean sandy beach with no crowds?
This is our 3rd trip to the South Jersey shore in September (after Labor Day). No crowds, no traffic, no waits in restaurants.
Sea Isle, Avalon and Stone Harbor are unique each with it's own feel. Avalon has been like a ghost town this week...free parking, beautiful beach, nice boardwalk to stroll on.
Good grocery shopping and restaurants. (Dino's in Seaville is a favorite diner.)
We stay at Lake and Shore (Thousand Trails) on our zone pass. Lots of camping options.
Beach towns are 5-10 miles from CG.
Very relaxed down here this time of year especially south of Ocean City.
Great seafood.
We have been lucky and had great weather all 3 trips, 80's during the day...mild at night.
No swimming right now...rip currents resulting from the various hurricanes, otherwise no affect up this far North to date.
It does pick up a bit on the weekends but still very nice. (Won't find us here during the summer...too hot and crowded.)
We had a similar experience at Myrtle Beach a year ago March. Too chilly to swim so the "Me" crowd was not there. Just a lot of older folks enjoying the peace and quiet.

I grew up in that area and my wife grew up in Sea Isle City. It is a great area to visit after Labor Day. On your next trip, make sure you go to the Lobster House (restaurant) in Cape May. You won't regret it.
