NM camping is not all closed

We are on a marathon trip from OR to AL. DW's dad is very sick. We are at the end of day 4. Talking with the owner of the campground we are at, Santa Rosa Campground, he said the governor of NM has ads out over a wide area declaring all camping is closed in the state. Obviously this is not the case. So, before you cancel or change you plans to camp in NM check with the campgrounds you plan to stay at. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Santa Rosa is on Route 66. Because we are just doing a relief stop we won't have the chance to see the local sights. But, folks are camping here for just that purpose.
Happy trails and safe travels,
Rick Y

I believe it's just the state parks closed to out of state campers. NM resident campers are fine at this time. Commercial/privately owned campgrounds are able to host campers if they abide by the restrictions that apply to businesses at the moment.

Status changes frequently.

I seriously doubt "the governor of NM has ads out over a wide area declaring all camping is closed in the state". Sounds like a campground owner with a beef against his governor. We're in a state adjacent to NM and there are no such "Ads" here. Nor did we see any such "Ads" in Colorado during our 3-weeks there.

It's known through public announcements - not ads - that NM State Parks are closed to out of state visitors. But all private campgrounds that we encountered in our trip through NM were open for business. We spent 6 nights at American RV Resort in ABQ at the first of Sept.

Believe that she did. The owner of Santa Rose Campground was passionate as he told me of what she did. His story may have been from early on. Campers have learned the truth since. But, this poor guy lost most of his business over the summer because of those ads. The folks who called to cancel reservations were recovered by this owner to about 80%.

A "public announcement" is a form of ad. What he talked of was the governor making a formal, to surrounding states, statement that ALL campgrounds were closed with no distinction or acceptation.
My posting is simply my attempt to let the RV community here know that private campgrounds are to be called to see of they are open or not before assuming anything. Happy trails are what we all need now.
