PA to Bar Harbor/Acadia NP
Headed to Bar Harbor, Maine from PA. We are looking to stay off the coast on the way up, and had a couple extra days to kill before Acadia NP. We were thinking of making a stop to Mt. Washington, NH. Anyone have any other suggestions for some potential inland overnight stops for a couple days. We don't have a toad so we rely heavily on Uber and shuttles. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

We have visited Portland Maine a few times. It’s a BEAUTIFUL city and very walkable.

if you are a fan of LLBean (or shopping in general) you could overnight near Freeport, ME. You will be driving right past it on your way to Bar Harbor.

You like Ice Cream? You can get the RV into the parking lot at Ben and Jerry's up in Vermont. We stayed in a KOA near Mt Washington and were able to take one of the "coach" tours up (its a van). You can park in a lot across the street from where you leave and walk over so no car needed.
As a side note I saw an add for Turo and downloaded the app. It's a car share program where people offer up their personal car for rent. We're heading out to Bryce Canyon and need 3 seats (and we have a 2 seater car) so we rented someones car for a couple days at about what an enterprise rental would be except the nearest rental place is an hour away where this renter is right in town.

As long as you are going to Mt. Washington, consider the Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountains. There are innumerable scenic spots along the way, and you should be able to manage parking with your motorhome. Lake Winnipesauskee is very scenic, and there are lots of small towns around it that aren't congested.
Safe travels.

We just returned from Bar Harbor. We went up the coast - Old Orchard Beach, Boothbay Harbor, then up to Bar Harbor. Be sure to use the Island Express while on Desert Island. Parking around Bar Harbor and almost everywhere in Acadia NP is hard to find, but the Island Express goes into town and all around the NP and best of all it is free and runs every 30 minutes.

Freeport water view
Take a look a t inslo park and campcround. They are located on the same exit that you take to get to Freeport, me( LL Bean home). They offer campsites with water views. No hookups and smaller campsites. You may be disappointed with campsites on the Kanamangus Hwy in New Hampshire. They were poorly maintained, especially the bathrooms. Regards. Lee

Maine
There's an RV park right on the water very close to Georgetown, Maine. Sagatahoc (close but not exact spelling). Full hook up, on grass, and they will deliver whole lobster dinners to your coach CHEAP! We spent an early October week there a couple years ago. They also rent equipment for, and sell day licenses, for clamming, right out the front door. Then take scenic route 1 North to Bar Harbor. It's a beautiful drive.

If they go to Ben and Jerry's (they need to buy a base-ball cap, while there, with the match stick LOGO person eating ice cream!), then of course, you want to visit any of the mom-pop Vermont Maple Syrup places...and load up! The best M.S. this side of the Pecos Mountains!
