ANY day on a beach is better than one without! Nice trip report! Hang onto your sanity until you can get out again!

We did that trip in September for the wife’s birthday. Good park. And easy walk to the village. We took our bikes and rode all around town. Would go there again.

Thanks, Eagle5! That may have been our next-to-last trip of the year, little did we know! We took one more RV trip to visit my daughter, but I’m not sure I’ll write about it. We did have a great outing to pick mandarin oranges, and we got to know her back deck really well. :-)

Visiting family is always wonderful. The Motorhome just makes it all that much easier, and safer too.
When we were kids, the open-cab firetruck would carry Santa to Pioneer Grocery's parking lot. He would bring us kids a little treat bag with an apple, a banana, an orange, and some hard candy. The Mandarin oranges were always my favorite.
Thanks, Eagle5

That’s a good memory. Small towns are the best, and mandarins and hard candy were a part of Christmas when I was a kid too.

Great place! Our first RV trip in 1996 ended at Pismo Beach, coming to the coast from the Sequoias.

We ended up camping on the beach, at Pismo—in the sand, and at 1:00 in the morning, I heard the waves washing up close to our tires.

Thankfully, I had the kids make berm and a moat around our Rented RV, based upon where the high tide was the night before.

What a newbie move. It did work, and we got out of there without having to be rescued, but it was close.

Now, I tend to be more conservative, and stay on dry land...

Thanks for sharing!

That was close! We have driven our RV on the sand, usually to spend our last morning there before leaving for home. It’s seems crazy to drive a motorhome on the beach, but it works in Pismo! :-)

Lots of online videos of 4WD rigs getting stuck in the sand at Pismo Beach. Not sure who would be interested in trying to pull out a large motorhome.
Next time you are in the area check out the little town of Arroyo Grande.

Now grant you, it was many years ago, but when we camped in our rented C class on the beach for a few days, there were these tow truck guys that were just waiting to pull people out if they get stuck. As I recall they wanted $300.00 and only took cash.

I watched who successfully negotiated the sand, and got out safely, and just did what they did. Waited until low tide...

We go every year, our most recent trip was August 2020. Our next trip is May 2020 and then again in August. We have stayed at Pismo Village but prefer North Pismo State Park next door. We don't need the hookups and enjoy the elbow room. My wife averages 25,000 steps on her Fitbit daily. I prefer the eBike.

Where do you carry the eBikes on your RV? I looked into the folding ones but then saw that they weighed from 55 to 65 lbs and decided against getting a couple.

This preserve opened to the public in January 2020. Thanks to the banksters' Great Recession in 2008 the developers halted their efforts to carve up the 800 areas of oak woodland for houses and offered it for sale to the local land conservancy.

It’s an amazing place to hike. Great views of Pismo coast! The parking lot tends to be pretty full, but early in the day you can usually get a parking place. Note mountain bikes will also be on the trail, but they have to wear bells and all we came across were respectful of hikers. We look forward hiking there every trip.
