Rocky Mountain Report

Best/last time to RV this year above 9,000 feet elevation, in Colorado, winter is coming. Aspen tress are now yellow, will be flame red in 3-4 weeks. Good time for Rocky Mountain NP, Mesa Verde NP, Sand Dunes NP. Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Royal Gorge NP and Hwy 287, 163, 24. Hwy 70 should be avoided steep with heavy semi truck traffic. Lite, infrequent snow so far.

Thanks for the report - stay safe... slick roads can be treacherous.

We spent Sept at 8,300' elevation up the road from Durango. We love the Rockies in the fall. But we leave before the snow flies. The National Forest CG we were at closed before Oct 1st.
