We got as far as Rock springs Wyoming (403 mi) and i was ready to call it quits. I-80 west so far so good. Light truck traffic and good road surfaces except through Salt Lake City UT.

Hi Snipechief,
That is a nice looking town. Do you ever go by a town and wonder what would it be like to live there full-time?
Thanks, Eagle5

Yes, I'm always interested about these small towns. Unfortunately on this trip we're just passing through, but I'm taking notes and collecting campground brochures.
I used to keep a log of our travels when we full-timed for 2 years. Getting old and lazy now I
guess, and dont do that anymore.
Wx is cold here this morning. It was supposed to get down to 35° this morning, but its actually 29°.

Hi Snipechief,
Yes indeed; on a cloudless night the Earth radiates its heat to deep space, at an effective through-the-atmosphere temperature of -50ºF.
I am still keeping a log book of our travels. I am hoping to start making more frequent entries! It is fun to be out on the road and seeing the sights.
Have a safe trip today and dodge those potholes; at least the big ones!

Pulled into the RJourney Rv park in Cheyenne WY.
Got a late start due to needing to top off the propane to, and fuel up. Underway at 10am. Got to Cheyenne around 1:50 pm.
Needed the afternoon to make some interior repairs. Window valance pulled away from the overhead cabinet . To much weight for 2 small wood screws.
Secondly the main entry screen door window shade came apart due to only 2 of 4 holes had screws in it, and where they screw onto was of course stripped out.
If your going to RV you better be handy.
An old timer about 10 years ago told me that.
Anyhow, all is well, bus is repaired and ready to roll. Hopefully we'll make it to Henderson NE tomorrow.
Here's a picture of yesterday's accommodations. It was good to know, that if the refinery blew up i would be at ground Zero, and I wouldn't have felt a thing. Hahahaha :-)>

Did you use JB Weld to pot-in the pulled-out screws? That was always my favorite when I rented from Cruise America. So far with the Eagle5, I have not needed to do that. I did have to add a stronger catch to a storage drawer, and re-brace the microwave when I had to replace it.

That's a good idea, but i had a portable drill motor and some bits, so I added a few more mounting holes and screws. I think it's "bombproof" now.
I've patched many heat exchangers onboard ships with high end liquid metal. Those patches are probably still holding. JB Weld has bailed me out a few times also.

Made it to one of our favorite stops on I-80.
Prairie Oasis RV Park, Henderson NE. It's usually quite empty. I don't understand that, because finding a RV Park can be difficult at times. It's all gravel and pretty level. Big rig Friendly .
This morning before leaving Cheyenne I noticed a wet spot on ground the rear of the bus.
Found a metal band clamp (hose clamp) going into the transmission cooler was real loose, and dripping trans fluid. Tightened it down and away we go. 100 miles later, I stopped to check it, and it was totally dry. The lost oil amount wasn't even indicated on the Dip stick.
Junebug is glad to be out of the buss after 377 mi.

Thank you, and yes she is a Happy Dog.
Yep, got the leak in time. Pays to check your rig over good before getting underway. Always check fluids.
Cheers!

We're in Columbia, MO at the Cottonwood RV Park. Nice little place. It's definitely not easy on easy off, but its pretty quiet so far.
The wind today on I-80 Was horrible. 7.1 MPG. Ouch!
Last night as I was checking fluids on the Bus i noticed the rear metal louvers in front of the radiator didn't look right. One side of the over frame broke off. So only the right side was holding this whole thing up.
Zip-ties to the rescue until real repairs are made.

Sounds like a design modification is in order. I wonder if Winnebago has updated the louvers? I cannot find the louvers in the parts catalog. Perhaps it is part of the Freightliner drivetrain, and not a Winnebago part?

Thanks, but we'll be home tomorrow. The bus will get attention after our house and property is squared away. We haven't been home since Helene hit NC & TN, so I'm not sure what to expect. Either way I've got a lot to do next week.
Cheers

Today we made it 500 miles from Columbia MO to Berea KY at the O Kentucky RV Park. Sites are tight. It's dark so I didn't do any recon. Mostly permanents here . That's been the norm for all the RV Parks we've stopped for the night.

Hi Snipechief,
Hopefully, your house made it through the storm OK. Glad you made it safely back home again.
