White Powder Around Tires and Jacks??

Recently on a trip to the California beaches we noticed several RV's with white powder sprinkled around the tires and jacks. I assumed it was to keep insects or rodents out. Has anyone done this? If so what is the powder they are using?

I’m surprised that no one answered. Perhaps because no one has had experience with this and this particular forum isn’t as active as some of the more general forums like iRV2.com or RV.net. The powder is for ants. I believe that people use Borax.

Several campgrounds in California experience ants. The white powder is Comet, or a similar chlorine based powder. You can put it around the entire RV or just the tires and jacks but it has to be a complete enclosure of the tires or jacks. If you leave one side open they can get in and climb.

Considered a good spray repellent which would be easier to apply. Just remember that in either case that if it rains you have to reapply the Comet or liquid repellent. Don't forget the sewer line

Also, elevate you water hose and electrical cord off the ground. Only needs to be a few inches so just tighten them up enough that raises them.

Thanks Wayne. I couldn’t remember the name of the powder.
