04 Adventurer roof maintenance?

What should I be doing to my 04 33ft Adventurers roof this spring related to preventative maintenance?

Clean it, check the side seams for cracking and replace the side sealant if needed as well as all the other places that could require the dicor treatment like antennas, a/c and end caps. If you want you can put a coating of wax on it but it becomes slippery after that. Check this for the side seams.

There's also this great video from Litchsinn RV.

macnut,
I've had that video on file ever since it came out. The use of "Silicone" for ANYTHING on a roof is taboo by some on here. But, in that video, you'll see that they advise the use of Silicone for the roof-to-gutter seam on FULL BODY PAINTED COACHES. Lichtsinn RV is about a block from the Winnebago factory and works quite close with them. We toured both facilities during the '14 WIT GNR in '14.

My thoughts are, if Lichtsinn is advising the use of Silicone for that specific operation and, they're that close to the Winnebago factory, that they (Lichtsinn) "should" know what they're doing when ADVISING to use Silicone for that application. When I was about to re-seal/glue the first 5-6' of that joint, from the front cap, I cruised on down to Three T's RV here in Lake Havasu to find out what they used. That repair facility is also closely tied into Winnebago operations. Their advise, SILICONE for full body painted coaches.

So, just some info here.

To the OP, if you do watch that video, and your Adventurer is NOT A FULL BODY PAINTED COACH, then use what they advise or, what's in the call-out sheet. Good luck.
Scott

Interesting video, I have not seen that one before. I have used this stuff on the side seam and it is available at Ace Hardware and others.

I always use what's on the call-out sheet. I believe that is also what Litchsinn advises.

04 Adventurer roof maintenance?

The thing I liked about their video is how to apply the sealant. When you look at the diagram from Winnebago, you would add just a thin line of sealant. They advise flexing in the fiberglass to get the sealant behind it to make a good seal. I found that to be great advice and I have yet to have to reseal those areas of the roof cove where I have done that.
