2005 Itasca Horizon Air Filter Help Needed

We recently purchased a 2005 Itasca Horizon 36RD class A motor home with CAT 350hp C-7 engine. A previous owner had modified air intake with K&N filter into rear drivers side passage. No one had inspected the filter for some time due to issue of reaching it. I wish to put the original filter housing in however I am on my 4th filter and none fit. This seems to be a one off filter location as it is vertical mount on drivers rear side, 11" diameter and a 5" outlet in the side. The intake is above the trans side cooler and that port is 6.5" OD but not sure if filter goes around that port or into it. I have spent hours going through filter catalogs and I'm about to just build my own using a cartridge filter. Any help is highly appreciated.

The filter would go on the outside with a hose clamp around the filter.
It may not be a K&N filter set up, maybe CAI induction system.
I would call both suppliers with your dims, they should be able to provide a filter to fit!

Thanks, I definitely do not want the K&N setup. I will look up CAI Induction system and see if we can come up with the right filter.

It looks like you would need a conical or at least cylindrical air filter with that intake port. Cold Air Inductions is another similar filter to K&N.
Are you against the cone filter shape or just that company brand?
I have the CAI brand on my Camaro for 12 years with no issues.

The OEM filter for your coach should be the Parker|Racor ECO-BC #094973007 (see attached Racor brochure). I found the best prices in the past at my local Freightliner dealer.

Chris, you have no idea what this means to me, thank you very much. I see you have the Vectra which is the same unit. You must have a reducer boot on the outlet to go from the 7" down to 5"? I don't know how far the previous customer took the modification so I may have to go further than just the filter.

Here's a BOM Parts List from the DTNAPortal (formerly AccessFreightliner) for my coach that ought to match yours as well--hopefully it's helpful.

Btw, given the last 6 characters of your VIN any Freightliner parts department ought to be able to access the same info for your specific coach.

You are wise to be scrapping the K&N air filter. They performed the worst of all the air filters tested on a diesel engine.

The air filter is a Baldwin PA3493. I just ordered mine from Amazon. The elbows and clamps are listed on the Winnebago parts manual which you can find online.

Ive been using the Racor also since we bought our 04 Joureny39K, CAT 330hp in2010. I went to the Freightliner roving"Camp Freightliner" class offered back then and it was probably the best thing I did right away as this is our first diesel. I recall, Mike, the presenter, said to replace that air filter every 2 years whether you think it needs it or not. He said that one does not want the filter to "dust" the engine because the engine will be toast. I get mine from Sacramento FL every other December and replace it. They aren't that expensive and I have some peach of mind.

Yet Cummins says not to disturb the intake air filter unless the filter minder indicates, otherwise every time you remove a clamp you risk creating an unfiltered air leak which will dust the engine. When a clamp it replaced, it must be in the exact same position on the used rubber boot, again to prevent creating an air leak.
If you have a doubt, call Cummins customer service.
