AE WeatherPro Awning Won't Drain
I purchased a new-to-me motorhome and last weekend was our first outing.
I was extremely disappointed that the power awning would not shed water when it rains and therefore had to be retracted every time it rained even just a little rain. The manual says the awning is supposed to dip at least 9" when it loads up with water however not only does it NOT dip the 9" I cannot even retract it when there is water collecting on it, I have to drain the water manually before it will retract.
The awning normally sits very flat with a minimal slope to it, so little slope that the water will not flow off it over top of the roller tube. I saw another motorhome of the same age with the same awning and it had a much more significant slope to it. The mechanics look the same but it has a greater slope to it. Both awnings appear to be OEM installations
On my awning there is a slot on the rear arm where the arm is supposed to collapse (a slide inside a tube) when there is water on the awning but it only collapses using about 1 1/2" of the slot leaving at least 2 1/2" of the slot unused. The two parts that makeup the slide bottom out before the remaining 2 1/2" of the slot are used stopping the arm from dipping the 9".
I am at a total loss as to how to fix this but as it stands the awing is virtually useless to me.
I am hoping someone has a suggestion that will fix this.
