Air horn and cover issue 2000 Journey 36G

My air horns do not work. There is a part in front of my 2000 36G Journey to . the right of the fuse panel. If I connect it to power it starts a clicking noise. Is this part of the air horn system? I will post a picture of it. If it is where can I get a replacement. Could I go to an auto parts store and find something that would work or maybe a semi-truck parts store.

Another question: As of now I do not have the funds to build a shelter for my MH. I am wondering if I cover it with a tarp would that be OK or would it cause problems with the roof. It is a silver tart that would, hopefully, reflect some of the sunlight bearing down on the roof. I don't want to damage the roof but if that would help protect it I will do it.

Picture of Air Horn part(?) It shows them at the paper clip.

That item is a vacuum pump, the opaque hose barb is where the 1/8" ID vacuum line attaches.

Before we built this pole barn garage I always covered our 40' RV with a 60' X 30' farm tarp from Harbor Freight and secured it with elastic cords. I added grommets every 2' so wind could not whip the tarp and wear the RV finish.
It works very well IMO. I never found any wear places on the RV, but about every 4 years I had to replace the sun-rotted farm tarp.($70)
The air conditioners kept the tarp away from the roof, so mold did not grow under the tarp.

Does this vacuum pump have anything to do with the airhorns?

They should be powered by the onboard air compressor. There should be a 12V operated air valve under the dash or on the firewall. The air hose is likely routed up the driver-side window pillar, The Winnebago drawings will show the air routing, the electrical drawings should show the wiring.

Morich is great with Winnebago drawings and schematics.

Try this for the air horn info:
https://www.winnebago.com/Files/File...00/0wkp36g.pdf
Not one I can fit on one screen and still get all the info you may need. The page numbering at the top also doesn't seem to fit where I find it. Look to exterior and find air horn or just scroll through pages a bit? More or less/about page 67 as the computer thinks?

Parts names are below the picture!

It's too hot to work on it anyway, right?

A few more hints on what you may/may not find?
I found some wiring hints and wire ID. Winn. stamps the ID on small wires near the ends.

I find this for at least part of the horn wiring near the front!

We often don't get too much of the chassis wiring diagrams as Winn considers that to be the chassis folks problem! I found no wire by wire info on this horn! Just hints!

I looked and saw a hose that was not connected and seemed to have a broken connector inside it. I think that may be the problem. I also have a aqua colored wire(?) under there with a screw in it. Don't have any idea what it goes to. Thanks for the picture and manual. Hopefully I can get under it and see what I can find. Where it is at you just can't get to thru the front opening.

OH, no.
You mean your front doesn't just float in space like the drawings show?
You mean it's not that easy?

YUP! The broken connector sounds like a good place to start. But it may take six hours to find how to get to it!
We gotta do some weird stuff.

i assumed your MH is a DP; the air compressor is on the drive engine. The air line to the horns is on the firewall. I can't be specific as our MH's are different.

I found out why my air horns did not work. Someone unplugged them. I finally found the wires that go to the solenoid and plugged them back on. Air horns work beautifully and sound great. They really don't leave a lot of room to work, though. I have to replace the spade receptacles they look like someone smashed them. Thanks for all the advice.

I'm pretty sure that the referenced vacuum pump is for your dash heater controls. That's how my old 2003 Journey DL worked.

Let me ask you this, did your make a noise when you had the MH running. My chatters but it will still pull suck on your finger if you put it over the white plastic piece and will quit making noise. I think something is wrong with it and will probably replace it.
