Hello,

I recently bought a 2007 Itasca Meridian 36G with the Cat 350/Allison 6spd. Last night was my first driving at night and I noticed that the
transmission keypad was not illuminated - seemed odd. The coach does have a spot light over the drivers shoulder so that helped me out.

Is the transmission keypad supposed to be backlit? If so, does anyone know how to turn it on?

thanks for your help,
John

Sometimes people ask questions that have to make you go look. I've never noticed, but I think it is lighted, but maybe not.

No switch to turn it on, think it is wired into the same circit as the dash lights.

Look into this further and let us all know.

This may be a experience to track down. 2007, should be brought to the dealer's attention.

On my Meridian, the keypad is not backlit. I guess they figure that you seldom need to deploy your jacks while driving down the road.

I have never seen one that was backlit. The gear indicator is an red LED display on my coach, but the buttons aren't backlit.

thanks for taking a look folks and let me know what others with a recent Winni diesel find.

To the earlier response - I am not looking to deploy my jacks (HWH), but trying to find Reverse!

I had to turn on the map light to find the 'R' button, not good...

safe travels,
John

Just went out to check our 05 Journey Allison 6spb because I couldn't recall if the keypad is backlit or not. With lights off gear selected at top of pad is illuminated and with lights on all of the keypad is illumated.

Just turned my parking lights on and sure enough the Transmission pad is illuminated. Couldn't remember as we have sat for almost 6 months now.

Hey guys -- I am so pleased that I was not the only one that could not remember if the trans keypad was lit or not.

At times the simplest things escape us.

My shift pad is back-lit when the parking or driving lights are on.

Well, it turns out my keypad is also backlight, but rather dim. Explanation is that I tend to drive with the instrument dimmer turned down low and at that setting the keypad is dark (even though the instruments are lit). As you turn the brightness of the dash lights up - sure enough the keypad is illuminated.

Seems to be working as designed - sorry for the false alarm. Chalk it up to pilot-error...

safe travels,
John
