Bed Room TV Replacement 2000 Itasca Horizon 36LD

Just pulled the old 12 volt tv out and removed the corner mounting cabinet. Once I had everything out I see there is 120 line in the wall with what I first thought was an outlet. Upon closer exam I see it is not an actual outlet but has a solid cover with indentions on it. Is this there so I can add the outlet? Hope this makes sense. I have a few pictures to show what I am talking about.

Our MH has 120VAC televisions. I suspect you are correct. If you're comfortable with a VOM, remove the wall plate and test the wires for voltage. Those depressions might just punch out to use the receptacle and wall plate.

I went back over this morning and took the box apart. It is a 120 box. I have never seen a cover plate like this one. I am going to replace the box and put in a new outlet and go with it.

Bed Room TV Replacement 2000 Itasca Horizon 36LD

My first post here at irv2 and found this thread to be of interest. I have a 2001 Itasca Horizon 36LD and also pulled out the bedroom TV and the cabinet. I'm now left with the exact same situation as in the photo. I'm in the process of installing a Flat Screen TV.

I actually worked on mine today. I am planning on installing a 24" LCD. The dimensions if the TV are 20 x 14. I have purchased a 4'x2'piece if hardwood (stainable) plywood from Home Depot. I have cut it down to 24 inches wide 16" tall keep in mind the ceiling line curves so the left side of the panel is closer to 18" tall and I cut it to match the ceiling contour. If you want to private message me I can call you and tell you what I am planning to finish this. I think the rest is going to be fairly simple.

That is a Hubbell Wirecon junction box. They are insulation displacement devices meant to be wired with a special presser. I believe most of the time they are installed incorrectly. just replace with a surface mount box and receptacle.

Please keep us posted on the results of your project. I have the same coach as you. I've replaced the front TV, but haven't tackled the bedroom TV yet. In fact, I didn't know for sure that it worked until this past weekend, when we stayed in a park in San Antonio with cable TV. The bedroom TV worked fine. We just never use TV much while camping.

Finished today. Once I removed the cabinet I ripped a two by four and secured it on each side of the opening to give me something to mount the plywood to. Cut out openings for AC and cable outlets. Attached the wall bracket prior to attaching to wall.

Thanks for the update. That's a very professional-looking job. Hope I can do something approaching that level of quality.
