Ceiling Carpet Cleaning 1999 Chieftain 35U

Can the ceiling carpet in an older Winnebago RV be cleaned using just a regular household carpet cleaner? I'm not sure how the previous owners got stuff onto the carpet on the ceiling but I'd like to clean it off. I would be using the wand attachment from a carpet cleaner. Any recommendations on a cleaning solution to use? Or what method do others use to clean this stuff?

The glue used is water-soluble according the the escapees.com members. Some of them used a hand-held Green Machine to clean their ceiling and reported good results.

There are 2 versions, this is the cheaper one.
I've never read of anyone using the equipment you describe.

FWIW, I contacted a local carpet cleaning business and the owner refused, saying his machine would make too much mess with water dripping off the ceiling carpet.
So I wound-up using Foley's spot carpet cleaner spray and micro-fiber rags on the worst places. It did an great job but my arms wore out after a few minutes of working overhead for a 74 year old man.
Now I'm going to hire a grandson to clean the rest. !G of Foleys and a new spray bottle costs about $25.

If you just have small stains to remove, I strongly recommend you try Malco Oxy carpet and upholstery cleaner. It will save you a bunch of time not having to do the entire ceiling. Worked great even on old water stains. Just follow directions
