Charger /converter issues

Need some advice, my charger /converter went out on my Winnie Adventurer 35u and needing to replace it. It is a series 7400 model 7445.seems this particular model may not be made anymore based on google searching for it. I have found some similar models but slightly different specs. How critical is it that it be the exact same one. Also is the only function of this to charge the batteries? This is the one I was looking at replacing it with

I replaced mine with the PM3-55 and it works fine.

Step 1, turn off your main shore power breaker(s).

Be careful when you hook up the wires. On my 2002 35U, the wire colors were either faded, didn't follow the expected wire color codes or I just made a stupid mistake. In any case, I accidentally misconnected the output wires, blowing an the unit's fuse. Fortunately no damage was done.

The easiest way to do this is to first unplug the old unit, then unscrew it from the floor so you can clearly see which terminal each is connected to, labeling each as you disconnect it. Similarly, connect all the wires to the new one before mounting it to the floor. Plug the new unit in, turn your shore power on to make sure all is OK before mounting it. Turn your shore power off before mounting, just to be safe. When the units are mounted, it's difficult to see what you're doing. Because of the cramped access a power drill/driver is desirable, if not necessary.

Final step, turn your shore power on and ensure that all is OK.

The PM3-55 will be much kinder to your batteries with its multi-stage charging.
