Do water tank heaters eliminate need for winterizing?

I've got a Paseo with water tank heaters. Being in Missouri, it does freeze in the winter. With the heaters, do I still need to winterize it? Thanks. Ron

Hi Ron,
If your Paseo is like my Minnie Winnie, the tank heaters are 12 VDC, and only for the black & grey tanks. Typically, those heaters are used for overnight trips where you have shore power. I would recommend you use a blow-out winterizing method similar to this.

The tank heaters will not cover the parts like lines, water pump, traps and such, so I blow it all out and add pink antifreeze to the traps and some into the holding tank like black and grey. Part of the most exposed stuff is the drain valves as they are often hanging out underneath. YUP! Those winters in Missouri are not something to count on as reliable, so I never trusted them too far. Actually, I have had more trouble getting things here set for winter because of the way the house is built. In Missouri, we assumed things would freeze but here things are built without that in mind and it sure gets difficult when they left the plumbing nearly outside!
