Installing a roll-up shade
I have the Itasca Horizon 36RD. I wanted a roll-up shade like the newer units. I already have a LED LCD flat screen TV installed, so I no longer need the big box behind the TV. I removed the plastic box and the steel above it used to support the old monster TV. Using the plastic cover as a pattern I made a piece (1/8" plywood covered with matching vinyl) and screwed it in place using plastic screw covers. I ordered the custom made blackout blind from BlindSaver.com. I removed the perfectly good Winnebago "Pleated curtains". If anyone wants the curtains -PM me. They are free to a good home, just pay shipping

Are you talking MCD shades? We love ours. Your mod sounds like a good one. Post pictures.

Shade & roller
I ordered the Cordless roller shade with the sand color and the blackout back. Company shipped the Sand color with the light filtering fabric. When they were advised of their mistake they remade the order with the blackout fabric. I now have a 95" roller shade with the Sand color light filtering fabric, all mounting brackets and instructions. It fits all the way across the front of the Winnebago, once the hump behind the TV is removed. Anyone interested? Can supply photo on request

I'd like to install a "pull-UP" shade, one that rolls DOWN onto the dash when not being used... Has anyone ever tried this?

That's exactly what I did
My 05 Itasca Horizon had the original old analog Sony TV. I removed it and installed a Samsung 32 inch LED LCD TV, currently on sale at Walmart. (I have a PFD of how I did that is available to anyone that emails me a request. [email protected])
My 2 posts above show what I did to be able to install a Roll-up blind across the width of the windshield (95 inches)

Iwasouth,
It sure looks like you're doing a fine, bang up job there. Your coach and ours are almost identical. I'm watching this thread with great anticipation of doing the EXACT SAME THING, including the TV and shade. I love high quality work. Keep up the pictures etc. I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of the top priority projects this winter in our home in Havasu AZ.

In our case that idea is not practical.
You must consider the longest free, straight, and wide enough area for the shade. Also, do you ever want it only partially closed? No way to do that on a pull-up unless tethered.
Our MCD motorized shade is very nice. It has a safety interlock so that you can't lower it too far when driving. This is a two shad system: one for shading and one for privacy. Works from switches on the dash.
