Me again, Fridge Screws 2017 Vista LX 27N

we were driving down the road the other day and the molding for our fridge popped off. I found one screw a week ago and didn't know where it went so I put it aside. I can't find the other one. I will buy bigger screws and replace as the holes in the wood are stripped. finally, to the question, should I be looking for an issue or just chalk it up to driving a hurricane down the road? Jayco rep said that at a show one time when I asked about stuff being solidly built. thought it was a good answer.

Found similar screws. Went to a woodworking store and they had cabinet screws. I did not know head of the screw part was called a shoulder. Always learning. Anywho, here is a pic of old and new. Hopefully they work.

Fill and pilot holes for new screws

You should get some 5 minute epoxy glue and some tooth picks and blue masking tape. Mask over the hole and then use a screw or toothpick to punch through the tape and clear the tape from the hole. I like the clear epoxy, JB Welds doesn't set up hard enough for my taste. West Marine Marine RX 2- Part Rapid Repair Epoxy is very good and the absolute best is West Marine G5 but you have to buy a fairly large quantity, and thickener, and you have to wait at least 24 hours for it to cure. It is a good resource to have on hand so you might want to add the epoxy and thickener to your tool chest.

Mix the glue with the tooth picks and then try to get as much glue as you can into the hole with the tooth picks. Then press in as many toothpicks as you can.

Where you mixed the glue keep testing it to find out when it stops being sticky but still isn't really hard. When it gets to this state cut off the tooth picks and excess glue

Let it setup for a few hours or over night.

The drill out the new hole with a drill about the size of the shank. If you do that the threads will engage the new wood and glue 360 degrees. If you don't pilot you can end up with a lot less thread to wood/filler contact.

I find reamed out holes work very well for a long time if I just dip toothpicks in glue and stick them in the hole, break them off and wait for it to set good. That makes the space small and the existing screws bite into the new wood of the toothpicks to hold.
This has to be thick enough material like 1/4 inch or more to give the screw a "bite".

I might go simple first and then if still a problem, you may need to go bigger but I never like to make the hole larger for larger screws!
We get so little true wood in RV that I never like to lose any of it!

I will try that first. One of my problems is I am not afraid to try things. It’s the execution of said things that I get wrong lol.

I've always used wooden dowels for this. Drill the hole out with a 3/16 or 1/4 bit that's taped to the depth you want, then apply wood glue to a piece of dowel cut to length. Once the glue is set up you can screw into it or drill a pilot hole. This has always worked well on things like door strike plate screws, etc.
