My neighbors have cedar tress that have sapped all over the roof of my '04 Sightseer. I have read to use Murphy oil soap, Simple green, Turpentine, or a Mr. Eraser scrub mop. What should I avoid and what works
Christina
Mineral spirits, is the product the Dicor says to use to clean the self leveling lap sealant used on most roof vent seals, before applying another layer of sealant . I've used it for sap and road tar too.
No mater what product you use , it will remove any polish from the roof , so best to re-apply polish after you've washed the roof when the sap is gone.

try Go-Jo. A bit pricey for a whole roof but it will melt it off with very little rubbing. Take extra care with footing as the roof will be VERY slippery, even after rinsing.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We used about 1/4c of bleach in the bucket of GelGloss Heavy Duty wash and wax (fiberglass roof). Our '04 looks brand new.

I have successfully used methyl hydrate on birch sap. This works really quickly. I use rubber gloves to keep the methyl hydrate from drying out my hands.
