Replacing Slide Motors? 2014 Itasca Ellipse 42 GD

Has anyone replaced the galley slide motors? W tech says that can be replaced from in or outside?

On the QD models 14 - 15 - 16 we do the rear of the kitchen slide from the outside 'cause interior access is a real bear - and the front from outside (and front could probably be done from inside - just haven't done it that way). I believe WBGO has some documents (guides) that describe the process. Take a look at the motors before ordering new ones - there's a difference depending on whether they're held in place with a screw or a spring.

How about replacing the harness for it? I can move it but pulls pretty hard. Any knowledge on that?

My harnesses run from the motors down through the interior side of the wall - look in the ceiling of the compartments just below the corner of the slide. There may be a coil of wire that you can untie - then pull gently on the harness from the top. Careful - you actually don't want a lot of slack at the top - it can get caught in the edge of the slide, etc.
Before you mess with the harness - make sure there's actually a problem with the wiring, not the controller or motor.

Thank you. That is what I found. When pulling the harness out the hole in the compartment where it plugs into the controller only moved it 6” so far cause it pulls very hard. Figured I should ask around first. The tip on keeping slack out going up to the motor makes sense. Any thoughts/tips on running it horizontally between the two floors to get to where it goes vertical? Thanks

Lots of corrosion where the harness plugs into the motor and the brown wire had broken off and was/is stuck in the motor side. I will keep the motor and possibly rewire if another failure happens. Do you think I could drill a new hole thru the floor into the compartments then run it horizontally to the controller?

I don't know if you can drill another hole - seems simple enough but I don't have that experience. Can you put a new plug on the coach-side wire?

Thought about that, I would need to sacrifice a harness. I am going to use telephone wire connectors to hard wire the motor to the harness. They virtually last forever. Jell filled so eliminates corrosion. That way I will have a harness in the parts department ready for an on the road repair….

Replaced a slide motor on the dining table slide. 2014 winnibago 27n. Replaced from outside after removing vinyl strip. No room to do it from inside. Winnibago help line told me what to do and it worked.
