After a short period of time the 2nd compressor will restart.

If your coach is wired for 50 amp but plug into a 30 amp pedestal you can run both compressors as long one or more of the heavy draw appliances is not running.

Hope this helps clear up the confusion.
We are on 30A today. It is a problem because the EMS is very efficient. When the fireplace is running and the coffee pot is on we have no HVAC (roof). Too much current being drawn on 30A to allow another appliance to come on line. We use our gas furnace if needed. Sometimes this can happen when the fireplace is off, the coffee pot is on and DW is drying her hair.

The camp is, as we speak, getting things in place to upgrade to 50A. I hope we can get this finished Monday.

In any case, basement or roof air needs the correct power source to run full bore.

Happy trails,

Rick Y

Cooper Hawk - We have a 2000 Suncruiser with basement heat/air running on 30Amps. As far as I know the wiring is factory original since we are only the second owner. And just like Bug512 and Charles Tuit, our when our unit fires up, compressor #1 runs up to about 19Amps; after a few seconds, compressor #2 then kicks in and our amps peak at about 23Amps (or 24Amps if we use the high fan setting). It cooler more rapidly because it distributes the cold air more evenly throughout the coach. And it's quiet compared to the roof units in coaches we visited in.

I have a basement air in the current coach, 2007 Itasca Horizon 40FD and like it. I also have had roof airs on TT, 5th wheel and gas A. All were noisy and if the main one was connected to the thermostat, when it cycled on it would wake the dead. I'm have deaf, GF says 9/10th and it would wake me. The 2nd one not on thermostat would run continuously with the compressor cycling. I guess that's great if you are sleeping at an interstate rest area and need to drown out the truck traffic. Yes did that. Had briefly a 2015 Winnebago Vista with roof airs and I wouldn't make that mistake again.

In my experience the basement air is much quieter, works well, and even though I may have lost some storage space, I still have plenty. I guess a down side it puts weight aft of the rear axel and my rear weight limits are near and have to move stuff forward. That's manageable.
