Shades shades shades
Well our shake down cruise has exposed a couple dozen issues we need to deal with. We serviced the GFCI and resolved about three of these. We are trying to deal with minor issues first and will address the bigger stuff later. Tonight I'll talk shades. About half the pull down shades in this coach 2010 40' Journey are not working. I suspect they need to be replaced as a whole unit Solar and night shade. The other issue is the 12v powered shaded in front. Looking at the manual we need to follow key off and chassis power supply on to get the night shade to function. This shade seems to drop only to the restricted height but not all the way. It doesn't retract properly. Any suggestions appreciated.

On the brighter side, you did not back into anything!
I'm not sure I understand your shade issue? ...Do you have day-night-shades and the cord broke?
Please send pictures.
Not sure what to suggest regarding your 12V sun visor. It is the sun visor, right?

Shades
It seems the key needs to be turned to on or the first position to provide power but if you go the ACC mode or start it, the shade won’t operate. It’s a safety feature to make sure you don’t put the shade down while driving. See if that works. Good luck!

When you say shades are you talking about the two front power shades for the driver and the passenger? If you are those are adjustable to what ever height you want. I have a 39' Journey bought used in November and my shake down cruise was from Chicago to Az. Thank good I feel I got a decent deal or I would of drove it through the guys front door that sold it to me. I was totally fouled by is honest nature and it wasnt the case. Still a good coach but thank god I own a auto/custom facility and have had 4-5 Rv's in the past.
Now I just broke a regular shade and mine are not power put day/night shades and a string broke. No one in my area fixes them, so i think I will just replace all of them with a Lovell from Lowe's and they will fit right under the valance. It will be an easy fix maybe 500-700 for all of them. Nice thing no more strings to deal with. Plus they can cut to size on the spot. Hope that helps

My RV has the type of window shades you have, mine are LCI, there is also MCD. Anyway, you can remove the shades and adjust the tension and upper limit on those by turning the end caps. They should go up smoothly when pulled down a bit and then release them. There are YouTube videos on how to do it.
As far as you motorized front shade, you can direct wire them with a 2-position momentary switch, that way you can lower or raise them regardless of ignition switch position. The factory has the built in "safety" feature so you don't lower them to far while driving, I guess they figure people would let the shade down to far when using them for sun shades.

LoL that would not be good for some people. My wife's shade doesn.t go down as far as mine does. So I'm a little anal with that stuff and want it right. It seems no one around here does pleated shades so I ordered out the string. If it becomes an issue I will remove all the front shades and go with Lovell and I can get the cut to match at Lowes. I just installed a set in my house and they were real nice. This way up front all match I'd just get their room darken ones. there only down when we sleep and no more strings

Totally apprecaite your imput

Windshield Shade
I think the pull down shade was covered, but the windshield shade should be able to be re-programmed. It is a bit of a PIA, but actually straight forward. In our case it takes two people - one to press the "key" at the correct time and one to operate the up/down switch and turn the ignition on an off. Check the Lippert website for instructions. I printed them because I have had to do it about once a year for the past several years. Lippert claims it happens when the voltage (chassis) gets below 10.5 volts. I consider this is BS, because I have had it happen when just parked for a long time and the unit was plugged in and my chassis batteries are maintained when shore power is connected. I know a former CEO of Winnebago that took his back several times to the factory to try to get this issue resolved. I assume they replaced the shade, but never heard the final resolution. I suspect he had some pull.

Yep sounds about right like I said mine works fine and its just that mine goes about 4" lower than my wife's. I have so many other projects to fix on this unit so I'll tackle those first.Truly appreciate your input

I own a 2012 Itasca Suncruiser 37F. On mine, the electric front shades have a calibration process. There are 2 momentary contact push- button switches located dangling from wires in the upper right corner of the passenger side windshield. If you have those switches, it is the same as mine. It takes two people to do the calibration. One to hold in the momentary contact switch and the other to operate the curtain up/down control. The are 2 calibrations, one for ignition switch on and the other for ignition switch off. Edit: It's tricky, so you need instruction to do it correctly. I found mine in the owners manuals.
