Slide out closes unequally
During our last trip with our new 2013 Vista 30T, I noticed that the bedroom slide out was not closing at the same rate for each side. The front of the slide out reached it's limit, while the rear of the slide out still had several inches of travel to complete. Both sides do eventually close tight to the seal. This slide is an electric Schwintek system. The dealer, a new branch, is still in the process of establishing a service department at this location.
Does anyone have any suggestions of things that I could check before we head for Florida. I had thought about switching the motors to verify if the problem was with one of the motors.

When it is open all the way is it completely open on both sides?

I replaced a motor/shaft coupling an a Schwintek slide. After the install the slide out was not synchronized. There is a method to sync it that is rather simple. I believe it was to hold the switch to move the slide out and the motors stop themselves without letting go of the switch. Then do the same moving the slide in. I would first be sure that there is nothing stuck under the slide out. It can't hurt to call tech Suport. It is closing all the way rite? They will walk you through the sync possess even after you get to Florida.
Jesse.

Thanks for the reply Jesse. Yes, the slide does eventually fully open and close. The sync proceedure sounds exactly like the problem. Hopefully this will be an easy fix!

Wild Bill,
Call Winnebago and talk to a tech. Having one side several inches further in or out can cause some serious problems. I'm not sure of what you manual states for your system, and our systems are different,(my big slide is 22+/- feet long) but mine states to never let the slide be more than 2 inches in difference. Even then, to me, that is to much. I have a manual override for those situations. I can bring in each side independent of the other and once in they are supposed to automatically sync. Another possible cause is the "brake" on the motor is not set properly. Check the manual or talk to Winnebago for that scenario.

You should have gotten 2 manuals with the coach. One is the generic manual for all the standard items included in all Vista's. The second one is called a "Operator's Manual Supplement" that gives all the specifics of the exact items installed on your coach.
Section 10 covers the slides and leveling system. In the "Lippert Slideout Systems" section there should be a procedure for syncronizing the motors. If it isn't in your manual you can go to the Lippert website and download it.
Lippert Slide-out Manuals
Be sure to get the right one for your motorhome. Lippert makes many different systems.

I discovered the same issue on my Sunstar 35F's driver's side slide. The forward part is going out about six inches farther than the rear portion. The slide seems to be retracting fully. I did contact Winnebago Service and described the issue. The service person at Winnebago told me the RV needs to be taken to a service center for diagnosis and repair.
It seems as though every one of these dual in-the-wall slides fail. I am waiting to see when and if Winnebago discontinues this type of Lippert slide.

Don't fool with this problem. Delaying can cause some serious issues. Get it to the shop ASAP. You should be under warranty.

Lippert has released a newer version of Schwintek In-Wall Slideout Troubleshooting. The proceedure to resynchronize the slide motors is now explained, there is no mention of this proceedure in the documentation that came with our unit. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
