Solution to Cup Holder dilemna

Our Vista 27N has the cupholders on the floor, on top of the dog house. You have to essentially lean over and potentially take your eyes off the road to get your drink.

Our friends have a Newmar with a $1000 optional table that fits between the seats. I kept looking for something like that at a MUCH lower price. However then my friends told me they do not like folding the center table since it gets in the way of getting in and out of the seats. So back to Plan A. Here is the result.

My husband borrowed the idea from another post somewhere and made us cupholders that fit under our windows. The one for the co-pilot side was the first one he made. The one he made for the captain's side is an updated model with spots for both his water AND his coffee!

The rectangular cutout holds my phone, or pen, or keys, and the underneath rack holds my travel folder and atlas. We love them!

Our FW Storm already has those and has the cup holder inserts that have the added cutout for a handle on the coffee cup but try finding a cup to fit the darn thing. Soda cans fit pretty well but I have went through three or four cups trying to fine one that stays put but also fits under my small Keurig coffee maker.

BTW that is a fine piece of wood working craftsmanship.

I was considering building something similar. It looks as though you screwed it to the wall to secure it. Is that necessary or will it stand on its own? I hate making extra holes in things.
