Step slide will not retract.

2001 Itasca Horizon 36ft

The step slide cover will not retract with the switch or the manual air overide, it will extend with manual air overide,
but will not extend with the electric rocker switch.
Anyone know where the componets are located or what the
fix may be.

In my 2002 Itasca Horizon the components are in the front compartment above the generator. Look for a pneumatic actuator with relays on both ends. Mine is Blue.

I thought for a long time that it was one of the relays that had went out and they could not just replace the relay they wanted to replace the entire pneumatic unit for a cost of around $500.00.

After finally messing with it I discovered the pneumatic unit was pretty foolproof. The problem was the switch. I replaced the switch and all works fine. PS. used a double throw momentary switch I found at Radio Shack. Total cost under $5.00.

As with every problem look for the easy fix first.

Which switch brand / part did you use? My step cover is also now working consistently.

Funny how this all occurs at one time. My slide stopped working as well. I took the solenoid apart and cleaned it and it still didn't work. Checked the switch, and guess what, one side was dead.

So, I called my Winnebago parts dealer in Iowa and they said the switch was no longer available. "What", I said. So they gave me the number of tech support at Winnebago. He didn't have one either, but he gave me the number and name of the vendor.

Electronic Components & Supplies | Mouser

Went on their web site and they did not have it in stock, (on backorder). What the heck, I ordered it anyway. Went to Radio Shack and found one that would work, but not a correct replacement.

Next day the vendor e-mailed me and said the switch had shipped. Haven't got it yet but evidently it's in the mail.

my switch went bad as well and, like you all have found, the switch is not supplied by Winnebago any longer. I found one on ebay that is similar. Here is the response I made on another thread about it:

I got the switch I ordered from ebay. It is the same size and has the same capacity as the original. The only difference is the original switch is a momentary on and this one has to be manually moved back to the off / middle position.
I installed it today and the step cover is working great, just have to remember to flip the switch back to the off (middle) position manually.

The seller on ebay was nat31409 and it was shipped from Clinton Iowa. No part number on it that I could find but it is discribed as Rocker Switch Black 3pin on/off/on 10A and cost me less then $3.00 including shipping.

Did not find nat31409 on ebay. Do you have a pic of the switch? Thanks.
