Windshield wiper parking

My windshield wipers have decided to park on the outside instead of the inside.

While driving through north Florida and up into Georgia during a rain storm my wipers decided to go into fits of not wanting to work and then not knowing where to park.

On our return trip from our vacation in North Carolina and several sessions of rain, the wipers work ok in all speeds but still park on the outside instead of the inside.

Any ideas as to what is going on with the wipers?

Thanks,

Ron

We had similar problem w/our '05 Winni Adventurer a couple of years ago travelling thru Oregon. Found a Winni service shop nr I-5 that claimed it was the motor which they didn't have in stock. I was not convinced & on inspection found that a bolt on one of the linkages was not tight enuf. Got wipers lined up properly tightened bolt & all has been fine since.
I think the wiper linkage is pretty light weight for all the stress that is put on it.

Yep. We have a different coach but had the same problem and it was a loose bolt on the motor mounted bell crank. Created quite a mess before it was all over.

Thanks Guys,

I checked all the fittings I could see and lubed the same and everthing seemed tight.

When the problem first started the wipers were totally out of control and didn't know what to do, sometimes they would even stop in the middle of the windshield.

The wipers are working ok at all speeds now but are just parking in the wrong place.

Ron

Sounds like the wiper motor has jumped a gear. Look and see were the linkage hooks up to motor you might be able to disconnect and adjust position to get them to park in correct place

IIRC most windshield wiper motors have an internal park circuit. Given the erratic behavior or your motor and that you have check to make sure all electric and mechanical attachments, it could be time to replace the wiper motor. Perhaps you can get the manufacturer part nos off of it and match up one from Autozone etc.
