Bonding Plug for Firman WH03242 4000W Generator

I recently picked up a Firman WH03242 4000W generator with 30amp socket. I'm also using a Power Watchdog EPO surge protector that keeps showing an E7 error which means it's not grounded. I purchased a bonded plug and that didn't seem to get rid of the error.

My question is are there different types of bonded plugs specific for generators?

Here is the one I purchased.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0967JMS79...t_details&th=1

I saw a YouTube video that used this very plug and that worked so I bought the same one. However, I came across another plug that listed differently.

https://www.amazon.com/Generator-Por...ustrial&sr=1-4

Am I using the wrong plug? Any recommendations or suggestions would be most appreciated.

The first link is just a standard grounding plug, not a generator bonding plug. It's just an ordinary plug that you install on a cord, it's called a grounding plug because it has a grounding terminal.
You can make it into a bonding plug by connecting a jumper from ground to neutral, but be very careful to get it right. I probably wouldn't advise it for a novice, and you already gave yourself away just buy the correct one in the second link.

The plug you bought is not a bonded Ground-Neutral plug unless you place a jumper across the Ground and Neutral contracts. Here's a Youtube video showing how to do that.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that yourself, you can buy the other plug you linked to or here's one that Power Watchdog sells that's a little cheaper.

This is similar to the one I bought for my Firman generator. Mine was made by Southwire but is basically the same. I have no issues with my generator and surge protector (again, it is a Southwire).

$10 from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Inve...23&sr=8-6&th=1

If you choose to make your own grounding plug, this picture shows the green an silver screw wire attachments with a jumper wire to connect the ground/green and neutral/silver/white prongs together.

Thanks for the reply, all. Don't I feel like a donkey.

I can most likely fix what I've got but will purchase one anyhow. $10 for a new one and I'll send the one I bought back to Amazon.
