Somewhere in IRV2 is a step by step removal with pictures of a Winnebago front cap removal. I forgot where is is located but it was a detailed description of the task. Try a search.

I suspect removal of your front cap is similar to the set up on our 2002 Journey which we traded in April.

Do a search on this forum for Journey front cap and you should find a post from BattChief. He provides pretty thorough instructions for removal of the front clip.

If you have any questions along the way, let me know. I had the front cap off my Journey twice in the 8 years we had it. I can also provide tips on the genset as can FireUp.

What all would you recommend I do to the generator once i have it out?
It has about 300 hrs on it, and it shuts down after about an hours use, on hi temp.
and its not over heated.

At 300 hours the drive belt and hoses should be fine. I suspect your problem is a defective temp probe (sensor) that is telling the ECM the genset is running hot when it really is not. If you go to the trouble of dropping the genset and removing the cover/s, I would at least replace the temp sensor and the thermostat. You might also want to do a valve lash adjustment while you are 'under the hood.'

Leave the front cap on drop the generator out the bottom instead. And I recall Onan having an issue with a fan drive coming apart in the time period. The parts to replace it are an updated kit. And to do that repair, I do not think you need to remove the cap of the generator as it is accessed out the rear.
