Hot Shower ???

Newbies here with a Spirit 22R wanting to take a hot shower. How do we fill the hot water heating unit for first time use?

Is there a valve?

If so, where might the valve be?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You may have winter bypass valves enabled, usually at the tank, wherever it is located. See Owner's Manual.
When the valves are set to "normal" operation mode, turn the water pump on, or connect to shore water, and open a hot faucet. Should cause the tank to fill. Once full (verify) you can enable electric or propane heat to heat the water.

Hot Shower

Generally speaking, the HWT fills on its own when hooked up to shore water. If you leave a hot water valve (kitchen or bathroom faucet) open when you turn the shore water on, you will first get air and eventually you will get a sputtering sound, and then a stream of water. Turn off the hot water valve, leave the shore water on and turn on your HWH. In an hour or so, you should have hot water.

If using water from your on board water tank, do the same process, but use your water pump to get water to the faucet.

You may have the winter bypass open. Check your manual to see how your valves should be for normal use. I once got a brand new MH that was winterized (dealer got it that way from the factory and didn’t check and neither did we) and had no hot water. Dealer replaced the HWH due to dry firing for two days.

Which year and model of 22R do you have? Since the spirit was made on a number of years and number of different models, we can't say what might be involved but I can refer you to the drawings that I consider almost a lifesaver!

https://catalog3d.winnebagoind.com/menu/Parts.htm

This will get you to the parts catalog where there are drawings of all the major parts like plumbing, electrical, etc. that you can turn and view from different angles to see details of things we could never spot by looking at the RV.

It does take a bit of "playing" to figure the controls but worth the time.

One big one is down in the lower left side, there is a "cross" + symbol which lets you pick a specific spot on the drawing when you tilt or zoom and will make that spot stay the center! Also note that the list at the right can be used to choose what part if you know the name, click on it in the list and that makes it show in yellow on the drawing! Or if you spot a part on the drawing and want to know what the name, click the drawing and it shows up on the list!
Some Spirit have drains only, some have bypass, and some have both!
Some examples of the plumbing info for drains and bypass on the various Spirit models:
