That device allows the remote controls to work from different areas of the motorhome. Say you have a satellite receiver located in the front of the motorhome, you would be able to change the channel from the bedroom of the motorhome using the ir remote sensors. The sensors are little black round buttons about 3/4 in round.

Jim, is that an item that can be bought/installed aftermarket? We'd love to be able to change the channel on the front satellite receiver from the bedroom.

Simple fix: go to Radio Shack and ask for item #15-1950.

Or better yet, get a satellite system with uhf remote, like a DVR included system. Try it, you'll like it.

We have for the past 4 years.

The IR system we have and I guess RON55 has is a wired system so wires will have to be routed thru the coach. There probably are some wireless systems out there but I am not in the know.

This is what I use Wireless Remote Extender you just add the RF transmitter/rechargeable battery that comes with it to the remote and put the disk with antenna in the compartment with the device you want to control.

Direct tv has an RF Remote that transmits a radio frequency that I have found very effective from anywhere inside the RV as well as from the outside TV location. The direct tv receiver must accept a small 6" antenna via the RF connector (looks like a coax connection) on the back of the receiver. The remote is programmed to the specific receiver using the receiver ID, thus eliminating the chance of affecting other direct tv receivers. Perfect for the outside TV hooked to an inside direct tv receiver. Also great for changing the front receiver from the bedroom location. Best $30 I have spent in a while. The remote can be found on at www.directv.com and then searching for the remotes.

Please be aware that not all receivers have the RF remote capability and must have the input on the back panel.
