Passenger map light switch

The passenger side map light on my 2008 Journey 39Z won't stay in the ''on" position. It simply springs back to "off" and the light never comes on. Is this a switch problem, some sort of newbie-user error, or something else? I've changed out the bulb to no effect.

What you describe I would say it is the switch.

Check your dashboard for a passenger light switch. Many motorhomes have an off/on switch on the dash and on the light, as well. On my motorhome it’s next to the radio house/engine power switch.

Maybe the switch...

I don't have a passenger light switch on the dash, so I'm going to try to replace the light switch on the panel next to the passenger seat.

Thanks for the responses!

WMark… seeing your photo I’d say that is your “dash switch” and that there should be another switch present at the map light. But my belief of this is solely based on my motorhome and a few other members that have posted here about their RVs.

My motorhome has two map lights driver and passenger. I rotate the dashboard lighting dial all the way until it clicks and then there is a small switch at the light as well. For the passenger there is the dash switch I mentioned and the same small switch at the map light.

I looked at the online version of your Operator’s Manual and found this information on the map light switch.

Since your Operator’s Manual only mentions the dashboard lighting rotary knob perhaps that is all you need on your 2009 Journey to activate the map lights and the armrest switch lets you turn the passenger light on and off.

Here’s a link to your online Operator’s Manual followed by the map light instructions:

Pictures are always a good thing!
That looks like one of the better installs to get the switch out as when they are snapped into the dash they can be tough to get out if we can't reach the back side.
A small point that might save some trouble as welll as money is how to get a replacement. If these are the common Carlin brand, they may have the label/info stamped on the side for ease of ID. That may let you go online to order the switch at far less trouble and expense than using the standard RV item!
Anything from $2 up but which one???

I don't believe it does.
