Plug outlets not working

New to Winnebago world, so please help. Have a 2015 navion itasca. Plug outlets will only work if the inverter is turned on when the motorhome is connected to shore power. Is this normal or is there an electrical malfunction. The plug outlets should work when it is plugged in to shore power without the inverter being turned on

This appears to be a common question with RVs. Most of the plugs that are for 120 V only run on Shoreline power. Very few of them run off the inverter. On our coach that includes only the ones that run the TV and refrigerator. Yours may be different. Do a search on this forum and I’m sure you’re going to find a lot of people asking the same question and you’ll have your answers.

According to the wiring diagrams and operator manual for your coach (both available through this link), and the inverter manual, if it is a Xantrex Pro XM1000 (see this link, page 4-3), you are correct. The inverter should pass shore power through to the outlets even when it is turned off.

I recommend calling the inverter manufacturer and asking them about this. A call to Winnebago may help, too.

By the way, you should add a signature to your user profile. It usually includes the year, make and model of your coach, but can include other information. A signature is appended to each post. To create/edit a signature, click on the "User CP" link in the orange bar at the top, then click on "Edit Signature."
