Power cord damage

I have a 2013 Vista 27N and have to replace the shore line due to the cord being ripped out, in the connection box easy to replace the white and black wires because part of the old wires were still connected however the ground (Green) was not, Do you have to ground in the area where it says shore line or will any of the ground terminals work

Here's a link to the wiring diagram for your rig's Power Center and Auto Transfer Switch, which is where your power cord connects. The fourth page shows the power cord ground wire (Gnd) connecting to a ground bar below the hot (Blk) and neutral (Wht)
connections. It doesn't matter where you connect it on the ground bar. Do not connect the ground wire to any other terminals:

https://www.winnebagoind.com/diagram...ire_180823.pdf

While you're at it, tighten all other screw connections in the Auto Transfer Switch since they tend to loosen with time and cause problems. It's a good idea to do this annually and any time you have a 110V shore power or generator problem.

If the diagram does not match your Auto Transfer Switch, and there's no obvious ground bar, identify its make and model and Google for installation instructions.

Bookmark the following link to a Winnieowner's "sticky". It contains links to other resources that will be of help to you as you troubleshoot other issues:

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Since we use a multi-grounded neutral, meaning the neutral is grounded at many points, connecting the wire at any ground point is the same as long as that point is of large enough size.

I'm not disagreeing with Morich in principle, but in an RV, we also have our 12V or chassis ground. You do not want to ground your 120V power cord to it. The only places that 12V and 120V should "meet" is via a converter, charger, inverter or similar device.

We agree that the 12 volt system uses the chassis or frame for ground. So where does the AC system get it's ground?
The purpose of multi grounded neutral is that all grounds and neutrals are tied to the same point in the hope that there will be no difference in potential between a 12 volt DC ground and a 110VAC ground. Voltage is defined as a difference in potential so a difference in the two grounds would make a possible voltage and current situation. In other works, one could get a shock from one ground while touching the other ground, if the two were not the same. Grounding both systems at many points along the frame adds to the safety as it prevents a difference in potential of the two grounds. That is also why I have sometimes said that neutral and ground are the same, even though they serve different purposes. They go to the same point in the breaker box! I picked this small box as an example as it is easy to see that all grounds and all neutrals go to the same point and we want them all connected together.

Rather than debate grounding, maybe it is more direct to just look at drawings and assume they are correct for what Winnebago does?
I picked an RV at random and found this showing the power cord coming into the load center and the ground for that load center is chassis ground!

I stand corrected. I swear I saw something to the contrary elsewhere but after checking around, I see that you are correct.

No problem, it all gets to be a muddle at times. I think that's why they invent so many little saying--- to keep our minds ontrack.
