Sat TV
I have a 2008 Itasca with Auto sat on roof that works just fine. I have a Sat connection on my house for the MH. When I hook up to the house sat connection, it will not stop searching. Do I have to do something to switch from roof dish to house dish. I am hooking up to the portable dish connection in cabinet. Thanks for the help

I'm assuming that both the RV and the house units are the same provider.
You may have to by-pass the dish controller and put the cable from the house direct to the receiver. If the controller is built into the receiver, hooking to a fixed dish may not work at all; the controller could be looking for feedback from the Auto sat, that a fixed dish can't provide.
Any reason you can't just use the Auto sat where the RV is parked?

My guess is that you haven't gone through the set up process to tell your receiver that you are now using a different kind of dish than the one it's used to seeing on top of the coach.
Just go to set up and go through the steps for setting the satellite dish. You'll need to know what type of dish is on the house in order to input that during the set up process.

What model DirecTV receiver are you trying to hook up in your motorhome?
The antenna setting configuration in the motorhome would be "18" round" and I'm positive you have a different antenna on the house.

Hi, the one on the MH is a dome the one on the house is the newer stile with the 3 What ever you call them. The receiver in the MH is 6-8 years old and works fine in the MH. It a non high Def receiver.

It is possible that your motorhome receiver does not have the correct setting to use your house antenna. I'm not sure when they started to add the SWM circuitry to the SD receivers.
Long story short, your motorhome receiver will need to have the same dish type setting as your house receiver, to use the house antenna. You may also need additional splitters or multi-switches at your house, again depending on what is currently installed.

Might take the receiver out of the MH into the house until you get it working. That takes out any wiring issues.

The receiver settings still have to match. The older SD receiver may not have a SWM setting. Can't tell without knowing the model number.

I agree, the older receiver you use in the MH may not be compatible with the new Antenna on the roof.
Direct TV receivers come in several types... The one in your motor home is compatible with an 18" round dish, in fact that is what it is set up for.
The one in your house is most likely an SWM (The newest)
In between they made some that worked with most anythign including an oval antenna that picked up 101, 110 and 119 (The last two being Echostar birds they leased for HD till they got their new KA band birds up at 99 and 103)
All very confusing.
