Third Brake Light Replacement for 1999 Chieftain 35U

I'm wondering who has replaced their third brake light and what did you use? I found the Winnebago part number 121950-01-000 and Winnebago wants $66 for this thing. Technically I just need a new lens since the lens fell off. But if I could change it to an LED third brake light that would be ideal.

This is for my 1999 Chieftain 35U. https://winnebagoparts.com/center-mo...ake-light-9-8/

I've been going through the same drill trying to find the replacement LED 3rd Brake light for my 2016 Adventurer 38Q. I'm not sure about yours , but I nailed mine down to the original light manufacturer, JustTop model JS171701. I contacted the manufacturer in Taiwan seeking to identify a supplier of their products here in the US. No response to my emails. Thus I have been unable to find that model.

But from their website I was able to glean the exact measurements (in mm) then converted it to US imperial sizes. I pulled the one on the rig and made measurements of all dimmensions. Then I was able to do a wide internet search for exact same measurements. I never could find the original model on the web. In the end I ordered one that is the same measurement from Amazon, but not a JustTop product. Its not due to arrive for another week or 2. Amazon offers a package of 2 LED lights for $11- $12 dollars. I hope they (at keast one of them)will fit and work for me!! Good luck on yours.

Is this a light that lays on a surface or does it fit down into a pocket or hole?

If on a flat surface, I would look at simply going for a slightly larger light that would fully cover the space of the OEM type. That would likely open the shopping up and let you move to LED.

If that idea is a no-go, it may be cheaper to pay the price than try to search out a cheaper option!
For the switch to LED, it may be possible to just replace the bulb?

Since most of us will have never dealt with that specific year and model, some pictures of the placement and design of the OEM light might give us more to work with when considering options.

Winnebago Adventurer Third Brake Light | Type: SL-GC5LED28

This one match any that anyone is looking for? I used a brake/cargo light from a Chevy Colorado on mine, but I had some room to fit it.

I'm going to have to remove the housing from mine tomorrow and see if it's a surface mount type (which I think it is). The whole reason I'm even looking for a replacement is because the lens fell off due to the plastic where the screw heads hold it in place has deteriorated/broke off and the lens fell off. I'll take some precise measurements too so I can find something that works.

Check with Amazon, they have aftermarket tail/stop LED lights for trailers that appear to be that size.Last I looked they are <$15. Just ignore the tail light wire and use the stop light wire.

My L-R brake, turn, backup light assemblies, along with the center brake assembly all turned out to be made of unobtainium so I had to come up with a DIY modification.

I just opened mine up, removed the bad parts and replace with off-the-shelf light sockets and LED strips that were fairly inexpensive. It was a leisurely afternoons work on a picnic table in springtime.

I just googled your part number and there are several assemblies shown as low as $15 but I don't know if they are an exact match for yours.

When I mod'ed mine, wrote an ad free blog about it: Brake, Turn, Running Lights...

I tried to find LED replacements that would work in my turn signal & brake light frames but didn't like the specs and forms of anything I found so just stuck with the incandescent bulbs. That was due to the fact that the sockets where all corroded and rusted out. The center center brake light already had burnt out LEDs so I just used LED strips inside the same case.
