Turn signal blowing fuse
I have a 2006 Voyage on the W24 chassis. I have new problem that has just appeared. It seems operating the left turn signal AT TIMES causes the fuse to blow. With the fuse blown, turning on the hazard flashers also blows that fuse. So far, every time I have replaced the fuse, the lights work again for an undetermined time.
Since the hazard flashers go bad too, I'm thinking the short might NOT be in the steering column, but that's just a guess.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Does anyone have any suggestion on where to start the search?
Thanks

If you have a trailer light wire harness, look at that first.
Sometimes the get chewed up wraped around the hitch.

Another common cause is a short caused by a pinched or chafed wire at one of the front turn signals, frequently where the wires pass through the sheet metal in back of the lamp assemblies.

With or without toad attached? I would agree with Twinboat. Start with the trailer wiring. There is clearly a dead short in the wiring or system someplace. Check trailer connectors/plugs and then wiring harness where it often bends or high movement areas where it may chafe against something that is grounded.
Good luck!

I've also seen a faulty bulb socket do that. There is only a thin micarta "washer" separating the hot wire from the grounded metal socket. the "washer" cracks and if jiggled, allows the hot wire to make continuity to the grounded tension spring.

Thanks. It looks like I've got to keep wiggling wires to get this thing to fail when I'm NOT driving.
When I first noticed the problem, the toad was not attached, but I can't say for sure the fuse blew right when I noticed it or had blown earlier and just not been noticed.
So far, it's only failed when on the road. I have a couple days to play with it now. I will post when I find it.

Signals blowing fuse
Just a note, even tho toad is not hooked up, power still goes thru cord and you could have a broken or shorted wire in your toad plug. That was my issue, but what drove me to almost open up chassis harness was I was losing only left signal. Even after I fixed plug, I still had no, left turn. It's thru reading this forum that I saw another member wrote that on my particular manufacture, there are separate fuses for right and left signals. I would have never thought of that, and it saved me from opening up wires needlessly.

Make sure the left turn signals either front or rear haven't lost their seal and let water into the bulb area. It happened to me.
