I want to replace the front TV on a 2001 Journey and wanted to ask how it is mounted and process to use for removal. If any of you have done this I would appreciate any advice or tips. It is center of the coach above the dash.
Thanks, Randy

You need to remove the wooden frame around the front of the tv. Screws on mine are visible looking inside the frame and under it.
My tv is held in place by brackets. I'd advise having a helper that can hold some weight. You have to disconnect the cables and it is in an awkward location. Like most tv's, the weight is all on the front, making it even more awkward.

I replaced mine couple of years ago. Remove the screws under the TV enclosure and there are 3 or 4 screws on either side (accessible from inside the front overhead cabinets) that must also be removed. The TV is held in place with a metal strap.

Although mine is not a Journey it appears to be mounted the same way the other posters said.
Regarding the cables, on mine there is a opening on the underside of the overhead compartment right behind the TV that will allow you to reach up behind the TV and disconnect the cables.
As I recall the weight of my TV (25 inch) is about 50 pounds.

Randy,
Our RCA TV has a cracked top left hand corner. It was there when we bought it. Unfortunately Winnebago did not buy anymore TV's of that type and size! We couldn't even find a TV of that size from any other make! So now we're stuck with it. I think the major deal you are going to be faced with will be the size of it. You may have to do some bracket mods. and molding modifications. Good luck and send some pictures so we can copy you. Our TVs are not HDTV ready anyway and may have to be replaced if we want HDTV in the future. I think in 2005 the rv manufacturers started putting in the newer flatscreen HDTV compatible TV's. Oops again. I think I may have hijacked this thread...sorry!

If you go up to the photo section, I have put some pictures up there showing how I replaced my front TV with a LCD wide screen. Took out the old mount and then I show how I mounted the new one on a board and how I fastened it into the overhead spot.
Do a search under my user name "dknig288" and you will find the pictures.

Thanks for all the info. My intention is to replace the TV with a flat screen. I have a pivoting mount that I hope will allow me to use a larger TV that will actually be outside the cabinet

007: you've just created an enemy!!! My dear son-in-law is a superb professional wood craftsman . I think I can get the cabinet work done for...1, maybe 2, cases of an adult beverage
I know he will be thrilled to see your pix! Many thanks! Steve

Thanks 007 and David,
I have a wwooden face frame around mine that is the first step and I am not sure how it is attached. I think after I remove the plastic trim on the bottom I will be able to see what the attachment process is.
