Does anyone know if the Winnebago installed crank-up satellite dish is called a single LNB or a dual LNB (whatever LNB stands for)? Direct TV and Dish Network keep refering to which of their programs, especially local channels, are available with a single LNB and others have to be on a dual LNB. I don't know which ones I can receive. Maybe a call tdo Winegard would be called for. Thanks for any info.

Winegard started using dual outlet LNBs on their crankup dishes about 2 years ago. I have one new in the box in my garage.

How can your tell the difference between a single and dual LNB? Is it the cable outlets or the little bulb looking thingy on the arm facing the disc?

There are dual LNB systems and twin LNB systems, and the terms are often used interchangeably but they are NOT the same thing. The OEM dishes I have seen may be either single or dual output, but they have all been single LNBs. The LNB is the horn-looking thing that points back at the dish when it is set up. Dishes with two or more LNBs can receive from two or more satellites at once. Single LNB dishes can receive from only one satellite at a time, but some of those dishs can automatically switch from one satellite to the other when you change channels to one that is on the other satellite. Those with dual outputs can send whatever signal(s) they are receiving to two sat receivers. Dishes with more than one LNB have to be able to "skew" ...set up at an angle ...in order to receive multiple satellites. Very few roof-top dishes at this point are multiple LNB dishes, as very few can skew.

But only with an automatic dish. Wagonmaster2 has a crank-up dish.

I have a 2006 Suncruiser with the crank-up Satellite dish and it is a single LNB. My
Dish requires 2 Satellites but moves easily between them when needed. Just a slight azumith move between them. DavidT

The receiving of local channels via satelitte is only normally possible about 100-130 miles from home with either system. That is because of "spot Beaming". To receive local channels wherever you may bee at the time, you will need to use the "batwing" antenna.
You have the option of receiving network broadcasts from either coast if you are in certain distance from a broadcaster or if you file a RV/trucker waiver with your satelitte provider. If you are interested, the provider can send you the form.

To receive local channels on your DirecTV satellite system call DirecTV and have them turn on the local channels.

Nope
It stands for Low Noise Block down-converter
Block meaning mulitble frequencies as in transponder channels

WELL SORT OF BUT IT USUALLY AN DUEL LNB

AS CAN A DISH WITH WITH ONE DUAL LMB.

TRUE IF YOU ARE REFERING TO MOTOR HOME DISHES BUT NOT TRUE IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT ALL DISHES
</div></BLOCKQUOTE>
A Duel LNB is a LNB that will receive signal from one satellite and provide signal to 2 receivers. It really has 2 Low Noise Block down converters (hence Dual) which can be set to either polarity so either receiver can select which set of channels to "look at"
Round dish with a Duel LMB - A single unit that has 2 outputs that will support 2 receivers
Dish 500 Twin Duel LNB - 2 of the above (side by side) as used on the older Dish 500 with 2 ea 2/1 switch (or 4/2, etc)
Dish 500 Twin Duel LNB - a single unit 2X as wide as a the single Duel LNB that has 2 Duel LNBs and a (4/2) switch built in - used on the newer/current Dish 500, to receive signal from 2 satellites and supports 2 receivers
