2011 Vista Steer Safe
I am new to motorhomes having spent the past 12 years with a 5th wheel. I just picked up a 2011 Vista 32k on a Ford F53 chassis. I am wondering if a steer safe would help with steering in windy conditions. I haven't had any problems but I do want my rig to be safe. I don't mind spending the money if it is worth it but I don't want to throw my money away.

I have the Safe-T-Plus and think it is worth it.

SteerSafe is great. I can drive in windy conditions with no problems. 18 wheelers no longer are an issue. It's simple with no moving parts. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best thing I've put on my rig. Had it on my prior rig too

Thanks for the replies. I haven't driven in windy conditions yet (although I know I will) but I have noticed the need. When I was driving on a fairly new freeway in good condition I didn't have much trouble.
Yesterday I was driving on I-10 which sees heavy truck traffic and is not in very good condition. This made steering much more difficult as the RV wanted to follow the grooves in the concrete. My wife actually asked if I was falling asleep because I was swerving so much.
I definitely will be adding this as soon as possible.

If you don't have one already, imho you will get more ''bang for the $'' by installing a rear track bar first. my ultra-trac bar from brazels cured my wind handling problems. the wind was hitting the rear of my moho's long overhang and was trying to turn it all the time.

We have the steer safe and it made a big difference in windy conditions and the big rigs when they passed. Good investment.

Safe T Plus best thing yet. Took 99% drift out in wind and those big rigs we need to put up with. Also added rear Trac Bar. F53 I think from 2006 if 2007 has front bar from Ford.

Let us know what you think if you add the Steer Safe. I have the newer Ford Chassis (some changes in 2008) and don't feel the need for additional help. It seems to track well and handle the wind very well. We downsized from 3 diesels last year and are pleased with move. Good luck. John

Cliff,
"Yesterday I was driving on I-10 which sees heavy truck traffic and is not in very good condition. This made steering much more difficult as the RV wanted to follow the grooves in the concrete"
You generally get this (rut tracking) from running too high tire pressure.
Get your rig weighed & adjust the pressures' accordingly.

I was planning on getting my rig weighed this weekend. We just finished loading it up which is what I was waiting for. Good to know about the tire pressure correlation to the grooves.
I was wondering if the newer Ford chassis had any kind of improvements over the old ones. I know a lot of people recommend a rear sway bar first.
