2011 Winnebago TOUR 43 AD Bugs
We just finished our first 12 months as the proud owner of at 2011 Winnebago Tour 43 AD. Wow, what a great coach. However, we did have a few punch list items I would like to share. First of all, the driver MCD shade will not retract. Solution, Tom Johnson, our RV dealer in Charlotte has ordered a new one. # 2 The Power Gear control box for our driverside slide shows a major failure code and has to be reset by turning off the chassis power. Based on other posts, I will run the motor instead of using shore power or the generator. # 3 The shower door bottom pegs will not secure shower door. Solution, Tom Johnson secured the pegs. #4 The rear back up camera has an intermittent short. Of course, it would not fail when in the shop last week. # 5 The Innomax king side bed lost pressure on the rear coach side. Not sure but in speaking with Edna at Innomax there have been reported issues of the connector coming loose from the pump. Not able to fix at this time as we are traveling. Wife shored up deflated side with blankets for now. The only other thing was that small silver slips of insulation keep blowing out of the air conditioners. No big deal but a nuisance. Actually I would rather have a Temperpedic type matress as it has no parts to break. All in all Winnebago is a fantastic coach and we are having a blast.

Congratulations on your coach! We have had a 2010 Tour 42AD for about 18 months and 20,000 miles and would echo your comments. Very few issues and a delight to use. We have traveled the entire USA with it while fulltiming and it has worked great. Winnebago is building some great coaches.

Congratulations on the great new rig! It sounds like you're almost through the bugs of new ownership. I wish we'd had a little larger rig, but being our first RV of any kind and the price being so right, I think we'll stick with it for few years. We've almost had it a year; it had 26K miles on it last November and will probably have close to 40K on it by the time his birthday roles around
We did some mind numbing research before the purchase and simply love the Winnebago product. We too, have had some issues, but Winnebago & Freightliner seem to really have their act together in terms of product support. Also, having the great folks on iRV2 has been real help and guidance. I wish I could say as much for the Good Sam extended warranty folks :(
Even with the issues we've had a great time of it. We wish you the best of luck with the fixing the bugs and many happy and safe miles.
Congratulations again and keep us posted.

We love our 2010 Tour 42 AD as well. We have had our share of minor problems and being pretty handy i have been able to fix most everything myself. We only have about 5000 miles on it so far but i am retiring next year and the practice will be over.
Good luck with your Tour

Sounds like you are enjoying your Tour. I share your enthusism as I have a 2012 Itasca Ellipse, the sister ship to the Tour. Interesting reading your punch list items. I too, have had a few. One of the interior seals on the passenger side forward slide came loose and wedged out between the slide and the coach body. Wood screws were still in the piece which resulted in major gouges in the paint. Fixed by dealer. However, back in the shop as apparently when repaires were done, a bundle of cables were not secured properly and when the slide is extended, it bulges out the body! My biggest concern now, is marks on the porcelin tile floor in three or four places where the rollers on all the slides roll in on top of the floor. There are distinct marks in the tile, not dirt, where I feel the roller is grinding down into the tile! Winnebago reps to examine and advise. You mentioned the slide having a major fault. I too, have had that. I found a service bulletin from the manufacturer of the slide motor that exponded on just that. There advice is that the coach engine is to be running when extending or retracting any slides. There comment is that the motors of the slides use high current and only running on battery, they might not get enough juice. I believe every time I had the fault, I was not running the engine. Good luck with your Tour. Enjoy!

Thanks for the update. Regarding the slide, I had the coach plugged into shore power and also had the generator running. The generator would have priority. I will be keeping the motor running when we leave this week to see if the error codes cease. I forgot to mention my front jack are slow returning in the up position. The factory advised they should be fully up within 5 minutes. May need to get them fixed.

2011 Winnebago Tour QD
When I try to extend either the driver's side slide or the Passenger's side slide, both control panels have this message, "parking brake must be set" Anyone else experienced this provlem?

Yes, parking brake is a must and motor should be running with shore power and generator off for slides to work properly. Of course the coach must be level.

We are also proud owners of a 2011 Itasca Ellipse 42QD (sister to the Tour) and are extremely pleased with our decision. Unfortunately we have had more than 5 or 6 items to report over the past 24 months but nothing major. Just a couple of comments on those items mentioned earlier. First, we always have the coach running whenever extending or retracting either of the larger slides. We also, use the high idle feature during this procedure as well. Before doning this we also experienced a low voltage fault warning almost every time. As to the silver flakes coming from the AC it is the result of the metallic tape inside the AC covers coming loose and being shredded by the fan blades. The tape was part of the sound insulation Coleman used until until they changed designs and made the fan blades sturdier and thus quieter. The tape can be easily removed to remedy the problem or you can just pretend that you are part of a Madi Gras parade.

The Madi Gras is too funny.........you are right on point regarding the motor running. I have also discovered how important this is. I have also found that the inverter should be off as it is a big voltage hog. Front HWH jacks were sticking until I gave them a shot of spray....Jacks now working fine. Non--petro silicone I understand is the best.

Update......I found two things....the jacks work perfect if you spray them with a non-petrolium silicone spray...seals are really tight and stick...also, cut the inverter off at least 30 minutes before you park if you are running the refrigerator. Seems like a warm fridge draws too much current from the batteries after traveling all day...Since we now do full battery charging with no loads...slide work perfect with no error codes...

We too had the problem with the slide - here is a copy of my post from 9/27
Fixed
Called the wonderful Winnbago helpline when the opened - they got the resident power gear guy on the phone with me -
Apparently not enough voltage when the slide tried to go out.
The had me turn of chassis battery switch - wait 10 seconds then turn switch back on
Start motor home
Had me check the chassis voltage - they said 13.9 was good
Pressed the button and it went out
They said there is a fix to this problem check with your dealer
Important to have engine on when putting out slides.

Just returned from Forest City service dept on Monday. We were having the last of our warranty complaints completed since the 2012 Journey turned 1 year old on the 28th. (Put on 11,600 miles) One of our complaints was the low voltage warning we get when we attempt to bring in the large front slides. The service man says this is a common reported problem from MH's built on the Freightliner chassis that they have no repair for. They believe it is caused by the engines intake heat coil. They no longer use glo-plugs. There is nothing wrong other that a heavy voltage use near engine start up. I asked for a report on the batteries and alternater output anyway as I needed to be sure that I would not run into problems just after the warranty ran out.

regarding the slide power issue on late model freightliners:
If you start the engine cold (less that 70 degrees or so), the intake heaters will cycle, which temporarily drops the voltage to ~6.
This is too low for the slides, and you will get sloooow retraction or an error code.
To fix this:
A. Wait for the intake heaters to stop cycling - engine temp 80+
or
B. turn on the block heater the night before. The intake heaters wont be needed, at least down to the upper 20's - if its colder than that, you should have kept driving....

Very interesting folks go to the factory and they say no fix. I call and talk to the power gear guy who is at the factory and he told me there is a fix.??

My MH is at dealer for final warrenty items, they installed a new control board (their words) that is a fix for the slide problems.

A fix! Interesting.
Does it keep the intake heaters from drawing down the battery?
Or does it make the slides not worry about the low voltage?
Thanks

Lift end of and support with 2x2or similar. You can then see where controls plug in. One of ours came loose; bed would not inflate. Hopefully this will solve your bed problem.
