24000 lb f53

Does anyone remember when Winnebago started building Class As on the 24000lb F53 Chassis. Why did they go back to the 22000lb chassis.

winnebago and all others build on chassis that meet or exceed their weight requirements, as well as you may notice that when workhorse existed, you could buy optional chassis as upgrades over the default chassis - so they all build with what is offered !

Honestly, the way all of the 'detroit' makes pull #'s out of A__ just to 'beat' the PR of the other brands - at least true for pickups, look closely and same truck may change lots of 'load' #'s from year to year w/ zero changes, brakes same.... just to be BETTER than the other guy.

so this could have been a 'beat workhorse' #'s game and not real capacity #'s ?

seems back when workhorse still alive, they always had 1 more gear in trans, offered a higher capacity chassis and when ford caught them, they would add another, did ford ever come up with a 6spd trans b4 workhorse died, nope ?

so unless the actual chassis rails, suspension components, brakes etc are diff, more robust, then could be nothing but #'s rendering it a 'who cares' or 'does it matter' situation - nothing but PR bs.

my workhorse w24 really does seem to be higher capacity built than the w22 (parts are diff or can be - brakes ARE diff), frame rails, suspension, brakes all diff , so it very well could be an actual 24k vs 22k F53 chassis - only physical/doc inspection would tell you.

GL!

yep, I am skeptical about all the things that any brand makes if the diff can make a buyer decide to purchase over another brand - besides many ppl know nothing about cars/trucks/chassis so PR is all they know ! some know more deeper/real stuff too.

lazy and ignorance go hand in hand, ignorance is just what a salesman wants, knowledge trumps the salesman bs.

GL!

Smillingsimon thanks for the comments. Newmar runs 26,000lb GVWR. I did not investagate the differences in the 22,000 to 24 or 26,000. I made the assumption that your coach weight was heaver but you could carry more.
If I had gotten responses from people that had them I was wondering what the performace was in the mountains. The V10 and the trans did not change.
Newmar has the same tow hitch so that may mean that they are pulling close to 30,000lb or a little more.

I ordered my 2017 Adventurer 35P with the upgraded 24,000 pound chassis. The added cargo carrying capacity is all in the rear axel and it was needed in our case. I like not having to worry about being overweight (in my RV, not me!). I could tell no difference in the driving and handling form my previous RV. I have made similar improvements to suspension that those with the 22K version have made....added a rear track bar and an additional sway bay, and Koni shocks.

While the engine and transmission doesn't change the rear axle ratio does change. Higher number gearing as the GVWR increases.
