Clearance light not working

Hello all,

As I was doing maintenance on my 2008 Adventurer I noticed one of my red marker/clearance lights at rear roofline was out. After replacing the bulb to my surprise it still did not work. I metered the socket and had 11.5 volts, which matched the other lights. I am confused as to how I have power but the light will not work. The marker lights on rig are made by Glo-Brite and come with a incandescent bulb #193.
This is not rocket science, so does anyone have an ideal what the issue could be??? I am mystified?

Thanks.

Phil

Do a resistance check of the bulb. They sometimes come from the factory open circuit.

Or swap it with a different clearance light...

Also examine the socket and wire connections. Clearance lights are prone to water intrusion and corrosion. A high resistance connection can still show full voltage with no load on it.

You've checked the voltage and found it a bit low but then it takes both an in and an out, so did you check the ground for the circuit?
Swapping bulbs and using one that you know works is always a good idea.

Hi Morich, thank you for the reply. I went back and checked a few things again and found the vintage was even lower after playing around earlier.

Anyway I decided to take the back camera cover off and was able to grab on to the connectors and found one of the barrel connectors wasn’t crimp properly. So I remade the connection and it worked just fine.

As they say” the easiest is always where you check first”

Thanks

Phil

Awesome

Thanks to everyone who answered. As you will have read by now, I did resolve my issue. As it turned out it was an intermittent connection from a poor barrel crimp connector.
I really appreciate everyone’s response. This is only the second time I have posted and both times I can’t be happier with the group.

May everyone have a great summer and may we RV with no issues all summer long!!!

Phil
