difference between 2010 & 2011 Tour 42AD?
This question is from a Winnebago lover and not a trick question.
Other than the front cap & door, along with cosmetic items, (tail lights etc.,.) is there any difference between these coaches?
The spec's appear to be the same. I do like the wide horizon and visibility from the drivers seat in the 2011.

When we looked at a 2010 Tour (we have a 2007 Tour), the salesman indicated that the 2011's would have a urea tank to reduce emissions. That means in addition to diesel, you will be filling up with urea too (available now at most truck stops).
From the website:
400-hp Cummins® turbo-charged ISL 8.9L diesel engine
450-hp Cummins 2010 EPA emissions-equipped turbo-charged ISL 8.9L diesel engine (fall 2010 production includes adjustable brake and accelerator pedals)

With the wider door, there is also a wider copilot seat in the 2011. Also, many of the “one place” tank, voltage and other indicators have been updated to full digital readouts versus the old style tank lights. In the AD, the vessel sink went from ceramic white to clear glass. I’m sure there are other small changes as well that I just can’t remember.

The 2011 has glass mat batteries which is a big difference. I don't know if the residential refrig is available on the 2010. The 2011 has a true sine inverter which is much better, the toilets are electric, I beleive the front window is larger and the side driver side window is larger. Maybe others know of other enhancements.

I also beleive that the 2011 have 3 roof airconditioners vs the basement air of the 2010

Also, Winnebago went to a solid front axle versus the independent suspension and small displacement engines.

2010s have those day/night pleated shades throughout.
2011s now have those MCD duo solar/blackout roller shades standard (not only in the Tour, but in most of the other Winnie product lines, to boot!).
A small detail that makes a really huge difference!

The 2011 generator slides out and the 2010 does not.

I was under the impression that the independent suspension was the upgrade with higher-end coaches and thing of the future. Wonder why Winnebago is going back to where they were years ago with the solid front axle?

Wagonmaster2,
My understanding was the straight axle was lighter and less expensive. In addition, with the longer wheel base and the tag axle the motor home rides much smoother without the need for an independent front axle. I own an IFS and have driven the 42 footer and it is just as smooth.

Having a tag and IFS on my Allegro Bus, the front-end ride is still smoother than with a solid axle. When we we were back in Forest City last summer kicking tires on the 2011 Tour and I asked about IFS, the Winnebago rep. eluded that when/if Winnebago brings back the Vectra or Horizon, and they have a 42 foot plan in those models, they will be IFS. Who knows when/if that will happen...

Geez... If you add them all up that's about 13 different items that are different on the 2011 than the 2010..
It seems the 2011 has alot more to offer.

Have to agree that the 2011 does have enough upgrades to make up a good poriton of the price increase.

There are 2011 Ellipse's, etc out there without the DEF engines, at least here in Quartzsite.

That newer Urea engine puts out 50 more HP. I think that's a worth while trade off. The Urea is not something you're going to be filling up all the time. It's like every 10,000 miles if I remember the salesman correctly.

One advantage of the new emmision is you will not have any dirty exhaust blowing out on your towed. Not absolutely sure how it will be with these new engines, but I do know that with my 09 Ford F350 after 24k the exhaust pipe is still as clean as when I bought the truck.
But it is a $12,446.00 (retail) upcharge for the new emissions motor.

Don't forget you also HAVE to deal with a more expensive engine, with emission upgrades and adding urea.
