Driver side location of slide motor

I have a 2014 40U Journey—-where is the slide motor located on the front driver side slide out?

I went to set up and when I hit the button to unlock the slides, a motor activated while I was pressing the unlock switch and continued to run until I released it. I opened three slides with no problem, but the front driver’s side slide would not move out. I believe the motor is shot but I’m asking for the location and procedure for replacing it. They appear to be easily accessible and simple to replace. Just want a little guidance before I start removing the rubber seals on the slide—-thanks — Bruce

There are many different types of slide mechanisms. Do you know what kind you have? For electric slides there are Schwintec, SlimRack, UnderFloor, and ThruFrame. And there are also HWH Hydraulic?

2014 was a model year where WBGO was changing slide designs and so many different kinds were in vogue then. Your Operator's Manual should tell you what you have.

Assuming you have an electric slide and once you know the type there are most likely videos on YouTube with instructions for motor replacements.

I looked up your Operator's Manual. It shows two types available for the 2014 Journey: Power Gear and Lippert. (Power Gear is now part of Lippert, by the way).

It also shows that some were under floor and some were side motor (like Schwintec and SlimRack).

That Operator's Manual does show where the motor is on the Lippert and has a bit of info on removal. Here's a link if you don't have your Operator's Manual handy. It in section 10 of the manual.

Driver side location of slide motor

I remedied the situation—used the seven second rule—held the unlock switch down seven seconds, then pushed the out switch and the slide moved out like it should—

Thanks for your info, creativepart
