Engine Data
Sometime in the recent past I saw an RV on a forum that had a PC monitor on the dash that was displaying engine data. If memory serves correctly it was a software application that allowed you to select the parameters you wanted to display. Anyone know anything about this?

Personally no, but if you Search the forum on VMSpc you will get a lot of hits.

I'm using Torque Pro with an Elm 327 OBD Bluetooth adapter on an Android notebook. I like to keep everything right in front of my nose so I don't have to look down at the dash especially on winding mountain grades.

I'm not sure, but I don't think bigb's gas via chassis and engine, which uses an OBD2 bluetooth device to capture data off the data buss, will work on a Big Truck or Freightliner Diesel with a Cummins or CAT engine.
If it will I don't know where the break point occurs in model years?

hmmm, you may be right, it only works on OBDII compliant and later. I didn't realize the OP probably has a big rig. It does work on my 2002 Powerstroke and my Via which is Mercedes diesel powered. (just edited my sig)

I use Bluefire and it works great though it does take a little getting use to set up the display dash you want. I have mine on a tablet and set up to automatically email my entire trip data even after multiple stops over a course of a week. It has an adapter the hooks into your J1939 or J1709 port under your dash and Bluetooth into whatever you want. There's a Bluefire forum where the company CE Mark fully supports. Not saying there's not other systems I'm just saying I'm happy with Bluefire.

Yes a BlueTooth OBDII adapter can often be found for less than $20 and even with the free Torque Lite Pro Software can be quite useful as long as you have a coach that is OBDII compliant.
I had to open bdersham's profile to find out what type of coach was involved (43 foot 2014 Itasca Ellipse Diesel Pusher built on the Freightliner Maxum Tag Axle Chassis custom built for Winnebago however we don't know which specific model) so its a good time to mention what a great courtesy it is to include that information in you signature line so everyone will know without having to ask what type of motor home posters are dealing with.

I’m interested. Which app did you use? Thanks!
