During a tornado warning...yep an F4 barely missed us. We were trying to get the RV back into our RV port, for fear of hail damage. I tried to release the parking brake after pulling in the slides and raising the jacks, and it literally came off in my hand! The entire parking brake lever assembly just came right off in my hand. It had been jerryrigged and spotted welded onto something. We just bought this used coach and have been having a rough time learning the systems and getting everything in working order but this takes the cake. Hubby ordered and received the new part (Ford dealer gave him the part number) and he put it on. True to form...it doesn't work. He says he can't tighten down the cable anymore than it is. However, we are stanch Chevy owners up to this point.
Any suggestions as to what may be wrong? The lever itself works correctly but there is absolutely no pressure on the peddle and the cable is still very loose. Wrong part? Not tightening correctly? We have no idea at this point. It's on a class A 2015 38Q Itasca Suncruiser V-10 Ford chassis. Heaven help us, I want my 2004 Winnebago Brave back!
