Lower skirt corrosion

I've noticed some corrosion to the lower skirt of my motorhome, mostly in the rear. It is all on the inside and I am not sure what type of metal it is. It is obviously thin and looks like aluminum. It is getting thin in places and there are small holes. I would like to treat and repair this before it gets worse. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I noticed the same on our Sunstar. It's a thin aluminum sheet over thin plywood. I wire brushed and cleaned my spots and then sealed them with rubberized undercoating.

I also had the same on my last rig ...a 2013 Vista.. it had a really bad case of aluminum rust or rot ..dont know what else to call it..I thought there must be some kind of electrolosis going on..checked all my battery grounds and even added another..I cleaned and sprayed the areas with wd 40 but I never did figure out what the real cause was...then the rig was traded for the 29 ve..

I guess it's good knowing I'm not the only one. Is there anyway to stop it?

While I'm not familiar with your RV I can suggest using a zinc based primer for aluminum. From the sounds of this corrosion I don't know how effective this will be since the aluminum is over wood. It would seem that the wood side isn't easy to protect.

The zinc primer can be found in marine suppliers - boat engines use this too. This comes in spray cans and is easy to apply.
