Power Gear Multiple Spur Gear Failures
Has anybody experienced Spur Gear Failures and/or damaged rails With Power Gear Slideouts?
I own a Winnebago 2011 Sightseer 33C.
The issue is one slide has broken 3 times, different slide1 time.
Any info is appreciated regarding any Winnebago Model or any year.
Thx

I have a 2015 journey with a full wall slide and the power gear unit has not given any problems. We have 26,000 miles on the motor home, so the slide has been in and out a lot.

2010 Sunova 33C- Purchased Oct 2010, Driver's side front slideout gear stripped July 2013 at 13,500 miles. Winnebago factory replaced the whole PowerGear slideout arm; motor, gear and all. Cost was covered 100% by extended warranty.
I don't remember where this came from but supposedly some gears that were supplied to PowerGear were not holding up and were stripping out. Absolutely no problem with it since the replacement. We now have 27,600 miles on the unit.

Great! Going right to the folks that make them is the best case scenario. Let us know how it turns out.

The ram gears on 38Q Adventurer (2016) slide which we bought in March of that year, failed in July of 2016 . The large slide started coming in in an erratic / jerky manner. I crawled under the slide and noted that the pinion gear had the teeth tripped off of it. The rack gear teeth were fine. Managed to get the slide retracted and locked after a time, but had to run the rest of the trip without use of the slide. Lippert advised they had received a bad batch of steel gears. Not problems since they replaced the 2 pinion gears (knock on wood so far). Other than waiting quite a while for the part, the fix was pretty easy and quick.
Ironically it was the second major failure on that slide (all three slides have failed at one point or another on this rig). The first time the bolts holding the face plate on the ends of the ram stripped out causing the face plates to come loose on both rams and thus not allowing full retraction of the rams.
Having all three Lippert slides assemblies fail left me in the first year of ownership left me with less than happy thoughts about the quality of Lippert's slide mechanisms. I better shut up before another one fails.

4 gears maybe it is a bad batch. Will know
Wed as I have an appointment with Lippert

Went to Lippert in Myrtle Beach last Wed. They fixed the problem by making
adjustments and lubricated seals & metal components. It took 2
men 3 hours. It was “pricey”, $900, but problem resolved, guaranteed 90 days.
Recommendation to keep lubricated, have inspected every year.
Would recommend Lippert service. They will be expanding.

I'm interested in their lubrication recommendations. Which parts to lubricate and type of lubricant?

The good news is that it's fixed. Sounds pricey to me. Was there more parts than just the gear replaced. Three hours labor, even at $150 an hour is only $450. But I've always been frugal.

SunStar LX 35F. Complained for months about load noise and clunk noise. Always told it was ok. Saw that rollers were making indentations on floor. Finally had problem with living room slide coming in. Took to dealer, all screws were pulled out, twisted motor mount.... Good news it was fixed before warranty expired.

My Large Slide also makes a clunk
noise just before it is fully extended.
Lippert says ok due to large slide is heavy.
Noise is te slide dropping down to a level position.
